HIV and AIDS has affected the world for over four decades. In the past, a positive HIV diagnosis could very well be a death sentence, as well as signal that an individual was a social outcast. In the past ten years, however, treatments for HIV/AIDS allow a person to live a long and relatively healthy life. In addition to examining current and future trends in HIV treatment, this paper will also discuss how the virus affects different regions of the world.
