Classical neural networks such as feedforward multilayer perceptron models (MLPs) are well established as universal approximators and as such, show promise in applications such as static state estimation in power transmission systems. This research investigates the application of conventional neural networks (MLPs) and deep learning based models such as convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and long short-term memory networks (LSTMs) to mitigate challenges in power distribution system state estimation and forecasting based upon conventional analytic methods. There are two encoding schema present in simple cells in the early visual system of vertebrates: the retinal simple cells activate highly when the receptive field contains a center surround stimulus, while the primary visual cortex’s (V1) simple cells activate highly when the receptive field contains visual edges. Video streaming over the Internet requires an optimized delivery system given the advances in network architecture, for example, Software Defined Networks. Machine Learning (ML) models have been deployed in an attempt to predict the quality of the video streams. Some of these efforts have considered the prediction of Quality of Delivery (QoD) metrics of the video stream in an effort to measure the quality of the video stream from the network perspective. โครงสร้างการผลิตไฟฟ้าของประเทศไทยซึ่งเป็นเชื้อเพลิงของยานยนต์ไฟฟ้ามีสัดส่วนการพึ่งพาพลังงานจากเชื้อเพลิงฟอสซิลมากถึงร้อยละ 74.88 ของกำลังการผลิตในปี 2562 จึงเกิดคำถามวิจัยว่า การเปลี่ยนผ่านจากยานยนต์สันดาปสู่ยานยนต์ไฟฟ้าตามมาตรการการส่งเสริมยานยนต์ไฟฟ้าเพื่อลดการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ในภาคขนส่ง เป็นเพียงการย้ายการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์จากภาคขนส่งสู่ภาคพลังงานเท่านั้นหรือไม่ การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเปรียบเทียบการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ที่เกิดขึ้นจากการผลิตและการใช้งานยานยนต์ระหว่างยานยนต์สันดาปและยานยนต์ไฟฟ้าแบตเตอรี่ในประเทศไทย ซึ่งไม่รวมส่วนของการบำรุงรักษา และการกำจัดซาก โดยใช้แบบจำลองปัจจัยการผลิตและผลผลิตวิเคราะห์การเปลี่ยนแปลงที่เกิดขึ้นจากความต้องการยานยนต์และเชื้อเพลิง และหาปริมาณปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์จากการเปลี่ยนแปลงดังกล่าวผ่านค่าสัมประสิทธิ์การปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ต่อหน่วยของมูลค่าผลผลิต ผลการศึกษาพบว่ากระบวนการผลิตยานยนต์สันดาปก่อให้เกิดการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ 12.45 ตันต่อรถยนต์ 1 คัน ในขณะที่กระบวนการผลิตยานยนต์ไฟฟ้าแบตเตอรี่ก่อให้เกิดการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ 14.85 ตันต่อรถยนต์ 1 คัน เมื่อพิจารณาการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์จากการใช้งานยานยนต์เป็นระยะเวลา 5 ปี พบว่าการผลิตเชื้อเพลิงน้ำมันมีปริมาณการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ 1.86 ตัน และมีปริมาณการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์จากการขับเคลื่อนยานยนต์สันดาป 21.80 ตัน ในขณะที่ปริมาณก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์จากการผลิตเชื้อเพลิงกระแสไฟฟ้าเพื่ออัดประจุยานยนต์มีค่า 7.08 ตัน ทำให้โดยรวมการผลิตและใช้งานยานยนต์สันดาปมีปริมาณการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ 36.11 ตัน และการผลิตและใช้งานยานยนต์ไฟฟ้าแบตเตอรี่มีปริมาณการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ 21.93 ตัน ทั้งนี้ยังไม่นับรวมปริมาณการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์จากการเปลี่ยนแบตเตอรี่ของยานยนต์ไฟฟ้าแบตเตอรี่ซึ่งมีรอบระยะการเปลี่ยนที่ 5–8 ปี การเปลี่ยนจากยานยนต์สันดาปมาใช้งานยานยนต์ไฟฟ้าแบตเตอรี่ในระยะเวลา 5 ปี จะปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ลดลงร้อยละ 39.26 โดยภาคขนส่งจะมีการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์ลดลง แต่ในภาคการผลิตไฟฟ้าจะมีการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์เพิ่มสูงขึ้น นอกจากนี้การศึกษายังพบว่าการปรับเปลี่ยนเทคโนโลยีของสาขาการผลิตไฟฟ้าเป็นปัจจัยสำคัญในการลดการปล่อยก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์โดยรวมของประเทศ

This work proposes a small pattern and polarization diversity multisector annular antenna with electrical size and profile of ka = 1.2 and 0.018λ, respectively. The antenna is planar and comprises annular sectors that are fed using different ports to enable digital beamforming techniques, with efficiency and gain of up to 78% and 4.62 dBi, respectively. The cavity model analysis is used to describe the design concept and the antenna diversity. Large area fiber array telescopes are a relatively modern development in the long history of telescope design and effectively create a single large equivalent aperture by combining many smaller unit telescopes at a fraction of the cost. In this study a spectrograph optical design is demonstrated that utilizes photonic lanterns in the input fiber feed for the Large Fiber Array Spectroscopic Telescope (LFAST) design concept, where photonic lanterns provide a simplified approach to the fiber feed originally proposed for LFAST. Heterogeneous teams of both air and ground mobile vehicles can combine the advantages of mobility, sensing capability, and operation time when performing complex tasks. However, when ground vehicles operate in cluttered environments with randomized obstacles, they may experience line of sight (LoS) obstructions and loss of communication due to those obstacles. To mitigate this issue, an airborne relay can be positioned in the vicinity of the ground vehicles to aid communication by establishing two-hop communication links between the vehicles.

The over-arching theme of this dissertation is the development of automated detection and/or classification systems for challenging infrared scenarios. The six works presented herein can be categorized into four problem scenarios. In the first scenario, long-distance detection and classification of vehicles in thermal imagery, a custom convolutional network architecture is proposed for small thermal target detection. Intense 3.5 μm mid-infrared emission has been achieved in Er3+-doped ZBYA glasses, which is ascribed to the Er3+: 4F9/2→4I9/2 transition. Based on the absorption spectrum of Er3+ ions, a 638 nm laser was utilized to directly pump the upper level (Er3+: 4F9/2) to achieve 3.5 μm emission with enhanced quantum efficiency. Spectroscopic parameters were predicted by Judd-Ofelt theory. The maximum emission cross-section of the Er3+-doped ZBYA glass was estimated to be 5.5×10-22 cm2 at 3496 nm. Orbion’s products include a Power Processing Unit (PPU) which is utilized for power and control of the satellite propulsion system. These PPUs are complex electro-mechanical assemblies that include multiple Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA) and are built to IPC standards. To ensure smooth fabrication and to reduce the risk of complications from in-process rework of PCBAs, comprehensive electrical functional testing at the board-level is required before higher- level assembly.
