The Potential for the electrochemical synthesis of FeS electrode has been obtained by cyclic voltammetry. FeS electrodes were synthesiaed by controlling Fe electrode at -1.0 V in LiCl-KCl-Li2S and Li(FClI)-Li2S melts and their behavior were measured also. The FeS electrode synthesized in molten Li(FClI)-Li2S has the best charge and discharge properties.

Investigation Of Solution Chemistry In Crevice Of Carbon Steel And Its Anodic Polarization Behavior, Zhuo Chen, Cui-Wei Du, Bei Cao, Yin-Shun Wu, Hai Yang, Zheng-Rong Zhang

A self-made wedge-shaped simulated crevice apparatus was designed to investigate the solution chemistry in crevice of carbon steel and its anodic polarization behavior. For carbon steel with 3.5%(wt) NaCl, the change and the distribution of electrode potential, concentration of Cl- and pH value of solution in the crevice, and the current density of metal in the crevice were measured respectively under various conditions of anodic polarization. The results showed that without polarization the metal about 2 cm away from the opening of the crevice was attacked preferentially because of its lowest free corrosion potential. The Behaviors Of Capacity Loss Of Limn2O4 Cathodeat Elevated Temperatures, Xiao-Hong Hu, Han-Xi Yang, Xin-Ping Ai, Sheng-Xian Li, Xin-Lin Hong

The capacity loss of spinel LiMn2O4 cathode at elevated temperatures was evaluated by constant current charge-discharge methods and it was found that serious capacity loss and cycleability decrease occured at above 50, especially for the charged cells. The mechanisms for this phenomena were examined by atomic emission and infrared spectrometry of the electrolyte, XRD measurment of the cycled elecrode and microelectrode voltammetry of LiMn2O4 at room and elevated temperatures. Electrochemical Behavior Of Riboflavin On Glassy Carbon Electrode, Hong Li, Lin-Cai Jiang, Liang-Nian Ji

The electrochemical behavior of riboflavin(RF) on glassy carbon has been investigated by using potential sweep, rotating ring-disc electrode and the measurement of differential capacitance. It is shown that a single well-behaved oxidation-reduction wave corresponding to a reversible two-electrons reaction apears in medium of pH<6, and the adsorption of RFH2 formed by electro-reduction is weak and hence its solubility is good. In medium of pH>6, there are two separating but overlapping partly oxidation-reduction waves corresponding to two-step one-electron reaction. It is shown that calf thymus DNA (CT DNA) can be adsorbed at highly ordered pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) electrode and detected by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and electrochemical atomic force microscopy (ECAFM). It is found that controlled potential pre-polarization influences largely the adsorption of dsDNA while it has little influence on ssDNA. It is demonstrated that ECAFM is useful to exploit adsorption of DNA at HOPGE. The pattern of adsorption of DNA at HOPG electrode that fits best with the experimental data is proposed. The electrochemically deposited Palladium hexacyanoferrate thin film on Glassy Carbon electrode (PdHCF|GC) has been studied in HCl, KCl and NaCl solutions by in-situ external reflection FTIR spectroelectrochemical technique. It is found that the behavior of the electroactive PdHCF film can be understood in terms of two states: Pd2Fe(II)(CN)6 formed in the inner layer and (M+)2Fe(II)(CN)6 (M+: electrolyte cation) formed in the outer layer. With cycling voltammetry curve(C-V), TEM and SEM photographs, the influence of PTFE and Nafion on the platinum utilization in catalyst layer of PEMFC was investigated. The results show that in gas diffusion electrode, the blocking effect of PTFE in the platinum utilization is not pronunced. In the thin-film catalyst layer, the electron conduct of the catalyst was blocked by the nafion solid and this caused the decrease of platinum utilization. A novel method for preparation of gold-film composed of ultra-fine gold particles was reported in this paper. The gold-film was prepared by electrochemical method on the surface of the paste electrode modified with the strain Bacillus sp. D01 which has strong ability to absorb and reduce Au3+. In addition, this paper reported an experimental method of determining trace amount of Cu2+ in water solution using cathodic stripping analysis to estimate the performances of the obtained gold-film. Separating the functions of current collection and gas flow distribution and then to design two separate elements to achieve the desired performance characteristics, a nonconventional cell structure for proton exchange membrane fuel cells bave been developed. The current collector is achieved using a thin stain steel sheet, the gas flow distribution is achieved using a carbon paper that has the desired chemical durabiliy when in contact with the proton exchange membrane. There exist two oxidation current peaks on the anodic polarization curve between -0.7 V and 0 V (SCE) in Na-hypophosphite solution. Peak Ⅰ (-0.55 V, SCE) , which represents the oxidation process from H2PO2- to H2PO3-, has been studied previously. A new polymer E-T was synthesized and used as a corrosion inhibitor for reinforced concrete. The inhibitive behavior and mechanism were studied with linear polarization, Tafel polarization, EIS and XPS method in simulated pore solution system with concrete samples. The result showed that the polymer was a mixing type inhibitor. A 1% dosage was sufficient to imhibit the corrosion of steel in simulated pore solution system. The salt endurance was enhanced from 0.02 mol/L to 0.10 mol/L. The result also showed the good synergetic effect of NaNO2, especially in low NaNO2 concentration. The EIS showed that E-T …

The surface of the spherical nickel hydroxide particles used as an active material in pasted nickel electrodes is surface-deposited with cobalt. This paper investigated the effects of the amount of cobalt deposit on the characteristics of nickel hydroxide electrode. The performances of the electrode, such as discharge capacity, utilization of active material and reversibility of Ni(OH)2/NiOOH redox reaction, were studied by comparing the charging/discharging curves and cyclic voltammograms. The mechanism of action of cobalt deposits has been described in terms of the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy of nickel hydroxide electrode.

XRD, TEM, ICP, low scan-rate CV and charge/discharge tests were carried out for the studies on the structural and electrochemical behavior of a prepared 3 V manganese oxide cathode for rechargeable lithium ion batteries.XRD analysis revealed that the cathode sample is mainly composed of tunneled Todorokite and layered Vernadite. TEM investigation confirmed that the morphology of the sample is a laminated construction with approximate 10nm layer space. The reversibility of Li+ removal/intercalation and structural stability of this sample framework to lithium insertion are good in CV and charge/discharge tests. In this paper, we report the results of our studies on regenerative proton exchange membrane fuel cell (RPEMRFC) catalysts, electrode preparation and their performances. The Pt catalyst for the oxygen electrode was replaced by 60 w%Pt + 40 w%IrO2 which reduces polarization by 0.2 V in a polymer protone exchange membrane fuel cell. The cycle performance of RPEMRFC was found to be manly effected by the stability of the diffiusion layer of bifunctional oxygen electrode.

An amorphous lithium inserting anode material based on Tin oxide glass was synthesized by salification in solution and its properties on lithium intercalation was investigated by X ray diffraction (XRD), microelectrode voltammetry and charge discharge measurements. The results have shown that this kind of material has considerable electrochemical reversibility toward lithium intercalation deintercalation. The available discharge capacity of the material reaches 430 mAh/g with charge-discharge efficiency over 90%, showing a great potential for practical use.

D Arabinose synthesized by direct electro-oxidative decarboxylation of D gluconate on graphite electrode from aqueous solutions. The effects of D gluconate concentration, electrolysis potential, temperature and electrolyte composition on the current efficiency and product yield of electrosynthsis are discussed. The laboratory scale electrosynthesis was achieved with flow through cell. The optimum technology conditions for electrosynthesis were obtained with orthogonal design method. Both galvanostatic and potentionstatic conditions have been exploited, the later was found to be more effective.

Synthesis of butyl butyrate by direct electroxidation of n butyl alcohol and the electrochemical behaviors of several selected conducting oxide electrodes (Pb/PbO2, Ti/PbO2, i/SnO2+Sb2O3/PbO2 and Ti/SnO2+Sb2O3+PdOx/PbO2) have been investigated. The results demonstrated that the intermediate layers of SnO2, Sb2O3 and PdOx could significantly decrease the interfacial resistance of the electrodes, and that the Ti/SnO2+Sb2O3+PdOx/PbO2 electrode possessed better electrocatelytic performance than others.

The spinel Li intercalation compound Li1+xMn2-xO(0< x <1) was prepared by using techniques of cyclic voltammetry. The electrochemical parameters of Li1+xMn2-xO4 electrode vary as either the starting materials or the synthesis temperature changes. It was found that the initial capacity and reversible behaviors of the Li1+xMn2-xO4 electrode depends on the amount of the excess Li, represented as x in Li1+xMn2-xO4. The reversible of Li intercalation process for Li1+xMn2-xO4 electrode was demonstrate by cyclic voltammograms.

In this paper, the direct electrochemical reaction of cytochrome c was sudied at the poly (ethylene oxide) film modified gold electrodes. It was found the PEO is a good promoter for the electrochemical reaction of cytochrome c, and the reversibility of reaction of cytochrome c was found to depend on the molecular weight of PEO and the morphology of the PEO films.

Carbon nanotubes were produced by chemical vapour deposition(CVD) of acetylene under hydrogen gas.The reversible specific capacity of carbon nanotubes is up to 700 mAh/g, much higher than the theoretical specific capacity of graphite(372 mAh/g).After twenty charge/discharge cycles,the discharge capacity of carbon nanotube anode still maintains 65.3% of its original discharge capacity . Besides, the charge/discharge efficiency of carbon nanotube in the first charge/discharge cycle was found to improve from 42.6% up to 55.9% by coating carbon nanotubes with copper.

A novel method to monitor dynamically the internal pressure of sealed battery with no damage of the battery by using of resistance strain measurement technique is presented. This technique employs the resistence strain gauges in touch of the battery case and to detect the minimal change in the battery deformation due to the increasing internal pressure, electrode expantion or intrenal temperature rise. Application of the technique for the study of the effects of the battery processing factors on the battery performance is described taking Ni MH battery as example.

The photon to electricity conversion process of nanoporous TiO2/PAn film electrode was studied in electrolytes with and without redox couple by using the photocurrent action spectra and potential dependence of photocurrent. It is concluded that the nanoporous TiO2/PAn film electrode has a structure of duplex n type semiconductor layers. The band gap of PAn film is 2.88eV.The TiO2 nanoporous film electrode modified by PAn can extend the range of optical absorption into visible and infrared region and effectively increase the photocurrent in the visible and infrared region. The mechanism of electrooxidation of MnSO4 on Pb Sb As alloy anode was investigated by using rotating disc electrode technique. The results shown that the conditional standard potential of Mn(Ⅲ)/Mn(Ⅱ)in 40% H2SO4 is 0.886 4 V.The rate controlling step of electrode process is mixed controlled by charge transfer and diffusion.

The electrode kinetic parameters for proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFC) were investigated by measuring the relations of cell potential and current density. An experimental stack of PEMFC which can be operated at E cell =0.7V, I =0.55A/cm2 steadily is presented, and the effects of electrode structure and operation conditions such as temperature, pressure, humidification, flow rate on the performance of PEMFC are discussed.

Electrooxidation Of Benzene To Benzoquinone In A Packed Bed Reactor, Xin-Sheng Zhang, Ping Ding, Ying-Chun Dai, Wei-Kang Yuan

A packed electrode reactor was used to oxidize to benzoquinone. Anode bed of the reactor has a size of 10~30 mm×450 mm×50 mm(thickness×length×width),and was packed porous lead alloy. A dispersion of benzene in 1 mol/L aqueous sulfuric acid was passed through the reactor. Current efficiency for benzoquinone generation is 62.9% at optimal operating condition: velocity of electrolyte flow, 0.19 ms -1 ;current, 10 A; thickness of anode bed, 10 mm, and percentage of benzene, 24%.
