Journal of Electrochemistry
Single-phase solid solution of LiNi0.8-xAlxCo0.2O2 (0≤ x <0.1)had been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Their electrochemical performance was examined by charge-discharge cycling. The LiNi0.71Al0.09Co0.2O2 compound showed a discharge capacity of 152 mAh/g after 20 cycles that corresponds to 97.4% capacity retention. The beneficial effect of co-doping with Al and Co elements was corro-borated by slow scanning cyclic voltammograms(SSCV), electrochemical impedance spectrum (EIS) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) data on charged cathodes. These results show that the 2D-character of the crystal lattice was stabilized by co-doping with Al and Co, the phase transitions that occur during deintercalation or intercalation of Li-ions were significantly suppressed, …0.1)had>

Journal of Electrochemistry
The performances of membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs)with various Pt loading were compared. The amount of Nafion in a catalytic layer was optimized, and the effect of Nafion loading on the resistance of MEAs was investigated with ac impedance spectroscopy. For a MEA with both Pt 4 mg/cm2 in the anode and the cathode, suitable Nafion loading was 21.4 wt% in the anode. With 21.4 wt% Nafion loading in the cathode, the Direct Methanol Fuel Cells(DMFC) showed the highest performance at high current density. While, the DMFC performances came down, as Nafion loading increasing, for ohm and concentration polarization.

Journal of Electrochemistry
Sr-doped spinel phase-LiSrxMn2-xO4 was successfully prepared by solid-state method. Structural and electrochemical characterizations were carried out. Although Sr2+ has a large ion radius-1.12 , the spinel structure can be well maintained for LiSrxMn2-xO4 sample as far as the x value doesn't surpass 0.05. Electrochemical study presents supporting evidence that doping the stoichiometric LiSrxMn2-xO4 phase with Sr is an effective way to improve the cycleability of LiSrxMn2-xO4 spinel material. A remarkable enhancement of the cycleability with retention of the initial …

Journal of Electrochemistry
The proline film modified electrode and its electrochemical behavior was studied by cyclic voltammetry and spectroelectrochemistry. After incorporation of Ni(Ⅱ), the cyclic voltammograms of the proline Ni(Ⅱ) film electrode exhibited a typical redox peak, which appeared at potential of 0.52 V anodic and 0.44 V cathodic in NaOH. The formal potentials E' were linearly dependent on the pH, and the peak currents ip were linearly dependent on the square root of the scan rates, thus charge transfer in the film was controlled by diffusion. The diffusion coefficient is figured out to be 2×10-10 cm2·s-1. The …

AC voltammetry, linear sweep voltammetry, and cyclic voltammetry were applied to study the anodic corrosion of Pb, Pb-1.0 at% La and Pb-1.0 at% Sm electrodes in 4.5 mol·dm-3 H2SO4 solution (25 ℃). The experiment results show that samarium can inhibit the anodic corrosion of lead and decrease the impedance of anodic Pb(Ⅱ) film. Lanthanum can also decrease the impedance of the anodic Pb(Ⅱ)film, but the effect is smaller.

Adsorption And Oxidation Of Methanol On Pt And Sb, S Modified Pt Electrodes Using Cyclic Voltammetry And Eqcm, Guo-Liang Chen, Sheng-Pei Chen, Heng Lin, Xing-Hong Zheng, Shi-Gang Sun
Journal of Electrochemistry
The processes of adsorption and oxidation of methanol on Pt, Pt/Sb ad and Pt/S ad electrodes were studied by using cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM). The results demonstrated that the oxidation of methanol depends strongly on oxidation states of electrode surface. Sb adatoms on Pt surface can adsorb oxygen at relatively low potentials, and exhibit catalytic effects for methanol oxidation. In contrast to Pt electrodes, the oxidation peak potential of methanol in this case negatively shifted to about 130 mV. In a contrary, the oxidation of Sad atoms consumes oxygen species of Pt electrode surface. As …

Characterization And Electrochemical Investigation Of Boron-Doped Mesocarbon Microbeads Anode Materials For Lithium-Ion Battery, Mao-Hui Chen, Guo-Tao Wu, Guang-Ming Zhu, Jin-Kua You, Zu-Geng Lin
Journal of Electrochemistry
The anodic performances of boron doped and undoped mesocarbon microbeads(MCMBs) were comparatively studied and the structures were characterized by XPS, SEM, XRD and electrochemical measurements. It was found that boron doping samples greatly increased the degree of graphitization and the crystallite size, leading to quite different morphology. Electrochemical discharge/charge cycle tests indicate that lithium intercalation occurred at a little higher potential for the boron doped MCMBs, being attended by greater irreversible capacity loss.
