To address the need for interventions targeting social emotional development and mental health of young children in South Africa, the Mazi Umntanakho (‘know your child’) digital tool was co-designed, and piloted with caregivers and 3–5-year-old children involved in home visiting programmes promoting early childhood development. The aim of this study was to qualitatively evaluate the feasibility and acceptability of this tool in four urban and four rural low-income communities, from the perspective of home visitors and caregivers. An indoor localization system based on received signal strength, visible light communication (VLC) and several machine learning approaches is proposed in this paper. Our proposed framework is divided into two strategies. The first one is consisting of gathering our dataset based on MATLAB software to create indoor VLC channel model. Accurate short-term forecasting of solar power generation is critical for the reliable and cost-effective operation of renewable-based microgrids, where sudden weather-induced variability can compromise grid stability, battery scheduling, and energy trading decisions. Traditional physical and statistical models struggle to capture the complex non-linear relationships and localized weather effects, while individual deep learning architectures often exhibit systematic biases such as chronic under-prediction of peak generation. This study examines the security, privacy, and compatibility challenges associated with smart thermostats in smart home systems. Smart thermostats, as part of the growing Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem, face vulnerabilities such as unauthorized access, data breaches, and inconsistent security protocols. Using a mixed-methods approach, this research evaluates encryption techniques, communication protocols (Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi Fi), and user behaviors that impact system security and efficiency. Key findings indicate that 35% of users are concerned about hacking risks, while 25% express data privacy concerns. Many users lack awareness of security measures, such as firmware updates and password management, which increases vulnerabilities. …

A three-dimensional neuromorphic (3D) computing architecture based on environmentally sustainable natural organic honey memristors is proposed in this thesis. A set of comprehensive and experimental results indicate that the proposed systems exhibit remarkable inference accuracy, consistently surpassing the 90% threshold, even with different challenges such as device variations and nonlinearity. This study also considers four different conductance drift situations, the effects of analog-to-digital converter (ADC) quantization, and multiple algorithms, such as VGG8 and DenseNet-40. The deliverable of this thesis will test the stability of the proposed systems and explore their potential applications and scalability in real-world situations.

This thesis examines the design philosophy of modern virtual reality applications that utilize hand-tracking as a primary form of user input. The analysis presented hopes to provide ideas for future implementations of this technology so that more immersive experiences are developed. This analysis starts with the discussion of a modern example of successful hand-tracking implementation, then comparing that implementation to a recent senior design project. This comparison is primarily based on each experience’s ability to create interactivity and immediacy. This study provides a comprehensive evaluation of data security within the Apple ecosystem, focusing on the company’s privacy policies, user perceptions, and the effectiveness of its App Store review processes. Employing an interdisciplinary methodology, the research examines Apple’s commitment to data protection, emphasizing transparency and user trust. A survey of user experiences revealed varying levels of engagement and understanding of Apple’s privacy practices, with only 32.8% of respondents having read the Privacy Policy and mixed opinions on its clarity. Researchers are motivated to use artificial intelligence in biometrics, medical imaging encryption, as well as cybersecurity due to its rapid progress. An encryption method for CT scans—which are used to diagnose COVID-19 disease—is proposed in this study. The suggested encryption method creates a connection among an individual's face picture and CT image to increase confidentiality. The simple CT picture is first enhanced with a host image. High-performance reconfigurable computers (HPRCs) make use of Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) for efficient emulation of quantum algorithms. Generally, algorithm-specific architectures are implemented on the FPGAs and there is very little flexibility. Moreover, mapping a quantum algorithm onto its equivalent FPGA emulation architecture is challenging. In this work, we present an automation framework for converting quantum circuits to their equivalent FPGA emulation architectures. The framework processes quantum circuits represented in Quantum Assembly Language (QASM) and derives high-level descriptions of the hardware emulation architectures for High-Level Synthesis (HLS) on HPRCs. The Cyberinet is a new Augmented instrument designed to easily and intuitively provide a method of computer-enhanced performance to the Clarinetist to allow for greater control and expressiveness in a performance. A performer utilizing the Cyberinet is able to seamlessly switch between a traditional performance setting and an augmented one. Towards this, the Cyberinet is a hardware replacement for a portion of a Clarinet containing a variety of sensors embedded within the unit. In this manuscripts, the synthesis of control systems with multilayer neural networks based on the speed gradient methods is given. For adjusting the weight coefficients of the base processor element, the gradient method of minimizing the learning criterion is used. A procedure for the synthesis of neural network control systems based on the velocity gradient methods has been developed.
