Williams Honors College, Honors Research Projects

This project will involve developing and constructing a self-cleaning litter box with feeding and watering functions attached. The machine will have a user interface for setting both the feeding and watering times, as well as how much to fill the food and water bowls at the same time. The project will involve the use of motors for the cleaning, feeding, and watering functions, sensors to detect when to perform those functions, and a microcontroller to process all the data and to tell the motors when to perform their respective functions. This project's goal is to make the task of caring …

Building A Wireless Electronic Control Unit For An Electric Vehicle, Hector S. Sosa

2024 Spring Honors Capstone Projects - Archive

Modern vehicles have a variety of features such remote start systems, advance drive assist systems, smart suspension systems, and a feature rich infotainment system. With all this technology in the car, there exists a complex network of computers working together in conjunction to deliver the modern driving experience that many people have today. To be competitive in the market, auto manufacturers are tasked to add additional features to vehicles by adding additional or modifying electronic control units (ECUs). In this study, an ECU will be designed for a mock electric vehicle which contains an already established network of ECU’s. The …

Data Routing In Multicore Processors Using Dimension Increment Method, Arpita H. Kadakia Dec 2010

Data Routing In Multicore Processors Using Dimension Increment Method, Arpita H. Kadakia

UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones

A Deadlock-free routing algorithm can be generated for arbitrary interconnection network using the concept of virtual channels but the virtual channels will lead to more complex algorithms and more demands of NOC resource.

In this thesis, we study a Torus topology for NOC application, design its structure and propose a routing algorithm exploiting the characteristics of NOC. We have chosen a typical 16 (4 by 4) routers Torus and propose the corresponding route algorithm. In our algorithm, all the channels are assigned 4 different dimensions (n0,n1,n2 & n3). By following the dimension increment method, we break the dependent route circles, …

Keyboard - Smart Card Reader Controller Using Vhdl, Lani Mohd Zuwairi Jan 2001

Keyboard - Smart Card Reader Controller Using Vhdl, Lani Mohd Zuwairi

Student Works (2000-2009)

As the time fly by the technology of computers has improves and much security is needed in every transaction of data that being done. In this project, designing a microcontroller for keyboard and smart card reader terminal integration is being done. At first stage, the architecture of the controller will analyze and studied. This will need some practice of knowledge in computer organization and architecture, as well as microprocessors architecture designs. Then the architecture is design using hardware prototyping. This is by using the VHSIC Hardware Description Language (VHDL). The codes done using the language then being simulate to get …
