A Comparative Classical And Data-Driven Facial Analysis Of Wide-Field-Of-View Lens Captures, Andrew Murphy, Giovanni C. Decapua, Anthony M. Cafiso, Max E. Raabe, Kaden E. Van Leuven
Discovery Day - Daytona Beach
WFOV lenses are becoming popular in facial recognition due to the fact that they enhance subject coverage and improve the chances of detecting target faces. However, wide-angle optics introduce nonlinear distortion around the image periphery, which degrades the performance of recognition pipelines. In this poster presentation, we use WFOV lens captures to analyze facial recognition using classical low-complexity algorithms based on the discrete Fourier transform (DFT), discrete cosine transform (DCT), principal component analysis (PCA), and data-driven learning with convolutional neural networks. Finally, we present computational efficiency, compression, accuracy, and precision of recognizing distorted images with qualitative and quantitative measures.

Poor management could leave the ship vulnerable. AI is increasingly integrated into design methods, fundamentally transforming the process of building user interfaces by compressing hours of work into minutes. Although AI design tools are becoming more common, little is known about how well beginners can use …
Singulars: Performing The Reverse Turing Test, Halim Madi
Singulars: Performing The Reverse Turing Test, Halim Madi
ELO (un)supervised 2026
Singulars is an ongoing series of performance systems in which I co-create poetry with a language model trained on an anthology of English poetry alongside my own writing. Across three works—carnation.exe, versus.exe, and reinforcement.exe—I stage live reinforcement loops in which my poems and the model’s responses compete for audience votes. The audience functions as an embodied feedback mechanism, shaping the evolution of both the machine and the human poet in real time.
This paper examines what happens when a poet becomes both author and training data. Drawing from creativity research, metacognition, and social cognition, I reflect …

Native Wayland Compositing On Apple Ecosystems: Assessing The Feasibility Of “Wawona” Compositor, Alex Spaulding
2026 Symposium
The Wayland display protocol is the modern standard for Linux window management, emphasizing security, performance, and simplicity. Expanding this ecosystem to macOS, iOS, and Android introduces technical hurdles due to proprietary windowing systems and divergent hardware APIs. This research evaluates the feasibility of developing a native Wayland Compositor for Apple and Android, given the closed nature of these ecosystems.
“Wawona” bridges this gap by architecting a native Wayland Compositor capable of executing unmodified Linux applications. The methodology involves implementing the Wayland protocol stack into native abstractions leveraging Metal, Android’s graphics pipeline, and CoreAnimation.

2026 Symposium
Shelter Portal is a web-based service tracking application developed for low-barrier shelters, including Catholic Charities’ House of Charity and Rising Strong programs. Many shelters still rely on manual headcounts and estimated meal totals, which are labor-intensive, error-prone, and insufficient for tracking individual service use over time. This limits operational visibility and makes it difficult to generate reliable reports, identify usage trends, and support external reporting requirements. Shelter Portal addresses this problem by providing a more accurate and privacy-conscious way to document shelter services.
The system was designed as a kiosk and web-based platform that uses scannable QR code cards to …

Escaping Isolation: An Analysis Of Virtual Machine And Container Breakout Vulnerabilities, Felix Iov
Cybersecurity Undergraduate Research Showcase
Cloud computing providers rely on multi-tenant architectures to maximize resource efficiency. This infrastructure depends on virtualization, which provides isolation between clients. This comes primarily in the form of Virtual Machines (VMs) and Containers. However, “breakout attacks” or “escapes” are a critical threat where attackers bypass these isolation layers to gain unauthorized access to the host system and neighboring environments. This paper surveys virtualization escape threats and analyzes three case studies: a runc container escape (Leaky Vessels), a VMware ESXi VM escape (VSOCKPuppet), and an NVIDIA GPU container escape (NVIDIAScape). Each demonstrates different attack surfaces, including file descriptor misuse, kernel driver …

A Data-Driven Framework For Modeling Car-Following Behavior Using Conditional Transfer Entropy And Dynamic Mode Decomposition, Poorendra Ramlall
Student Research Symposium (SRS)
Accurate modeling of car-following behavior is essential for understanding traffic dynamics and enabling predictive control in intelligent transportation systems. This study presents a novel data-driven framework that combines information-theoretic input selection via conditional transfer entropy (CTE) with dynamic mode decomposition with control (DMDc) for identifying and forecasting car-following dynamics. In the first step, CTE is employed to identify the specific vehicles that exert directional influence on a given subject vehicle, thereby systematically determining the relevant control inputs for modeling its behavior. In the second step, DMDc is applied to estimate and predict the dynamics by reconstructing the closed-form expression of …

A Transition Framework For Hybrid Tls In Enterprise-Level Systems, William Hadd
Cybersecurity Undergraduate Research Showcase
Enterprises face an immediate need to protect long-lived data against harvest-now, decrypt-later threats while maintaining interoperability across layered systems. With NIST’s first post-quantum standards finalized (ML-KEM, ML-DSA, SLH-DSA) and TLS hybridization drafts defining concrete ECDHE + ML-KEM groups, adoption can begin at the TLS termination layer even before full ecosystem support for post-quantum signatures arrives (NIST, 2024; IETF, 2025). In this paper, we propose an enterprise-oriented transition framework and maturity model for hybrid TLS across email, internal API gateways, and object storage. We specify where to enforce, which hybrid groups to select, and how to prevent silent downgrade with policy …

Large Language Models (LLMs) have significantly advanced conversational AI by enabling dialogic information-seeking and task execution across diverse domains. However, their extensive parameters and broad domain scope lead to “data hallucinations.” These shortcomings are particularly evident in dynamic and diverse environments like India’s healthcare sector, where myriad languages, regional practices, and cultural nuances demand specialized, localized expertise rather than one-size-fits-all generalist models. This paper introduces a meta-clustering framework that integrates Distilled Language Models (DLMs) and Small/Specialized Language Models (SLMs) with meta-learning principles to address these limitations. By drawing on evidence from works such as MedHalu and Med-HALT, the framework seeks …
