Affinity-Based Multi-Character Storyboard Generation Using Rewrite Rules, Ram Sukkirtkijpibul
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
A game story contains interactions between characters as well as the game world. Certain genres of games such as Visual Novels and Role-Playing Games rely on their stories to attract players. There were several proposed algorithms for story generation. They focused mainly on story generation for one main character. To our knowledge, there has not been a generator with support for multiple main characters, where each main character has their own storyline that could overlap with other main characters’ stories. With multiple main characters, players can see the game world through different viewpoints, thus getting more immersed into the game's …

Improved Sequence Embeddings For Peptide-Class I Mhc Binding Prediction, Patiphan Wongklaew
Improved Sequence Embeddings For Peptide-Class I Mhc Binding Prediction, Patiphan Wongklaew
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The binding of a peptide antigen to a class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC) protein is considered an essential process by which the immune system monitors infected cells. This mechanism has facilitated the development of peptide-based vaccines aimed at stimulating the patient's immune response for cancer treat-ment. Accurate prediction of peptide-MHC binding is therefore crucial for prioritizing optimal peptides tailored to individual patients. Nevertheless, many MHC alleles lack sufficient experimental data on peptide-MHC binding, which potentially constrains the accuracy of existing prediction models. This study introduces an enhanced iteration of MHCSeqNet, an open-source deep learning model which utilizes sequence data …
Improving Thai-Dialect Automatic Speech Recognition With Curriculum Learning, Artit Suwanbandit
Improving Thai-Dialect Automatic Speech Recognition With Curriculum Learning, Artit Suwanbandit
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) has been the foremost feature and integrated in many real-world usages for decades. The novel deep learning approaches prevail in the ASR field as a model architecture. However, ASR still struggles with low-resource data, especially in the Thai dialectal language. Transfer learning is the conventional approach in the machine learning field for escalating the performance of low-resource settings. In the scenario that additional fine-tuning tasks are not achievable, exerting all efficiency of target data is an accountability. To overcome stagnation, we proposed transfer-based curriculum learning for low-resource dialectal ASR, Phonemetically-induced subword Out-of-vocabulary rate (PhIS-OOV), and Model …
Grammatical Error Correction In Thai Sentences For Deaf Students, Supachan Traitruengsakul
Grammatical Error Correction In Thai Sentences For Deaf Students, Supachan Traitruengsakul
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Deaf students encounter challenges in written communication due to errors such as insertion, deletion, disorder, misusage, and misspellings. Grammatical error correction (GEC) technology can help mitigate these issues. However, existing GEC models are primarily trained on online resources from second-language hearing learners. In contrast, sentences written by deaf students suffer from a variety of errors not typically found elsewhere. To address this issue, we create the Thai Deaf Corpus (TDC), focusing on identifying and analyzing errors among deaf students in grades 7-12 across four deaf schools. Additionally, we introduce a two-stage system for the Thai-GEC model, automatically detecting and correcting …

Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Research and Publications
Local natural gas distribution companies (LDCs) require accurate demand forecasts across various time periods, geographic regions, and customer class hierarchies. Achieving coherent forecasts across these hierarchies is challenging but crucial for optimal decision making, resource allocation, and operational efficiency. This work introduces a method that structures the gas distribution system into cross-temporal hierarchies to produce accurate and coherent forecasts. We apply our method to a case study involving three operational regions, forecasting at different geographical levels and analyzing both hourly and daily frequencies. Trained on five years of data and tested on one year, our model achieves a 10% reduction …
Implementation Of Algorithms For Sorting By Strip Swaps Using Alternating Cycle Graphs, Harsh S. Bhakharia
Implementation Of Algorithms For Sorting By Strip Swaps Using Alternating Cycle Graphs, Harsh S. Bhakharia
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Challenges in computational biology, such as genome rearrangement, and applications in optical character recognition, like zoning techniques, often require solving optimization problems. These involve reordering scrambled sequences of numbers into a sequential arrangement known as the identity permutation.
Rearranging any given permutation into the identity permutation with the minimum number of specific operations related to strips gives rise to various combinatorial optimization scenarios. Operations such as strip moves, transpositions, reversals, and block interchanges have been extensively researched.
This thesis builds on the foundational work of Roy et al., targeting the refinement of their cycle graph algorithm for sorting by strip …

Cyber-attacks continue to evolve, increasing in frequency and sophistication where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming essential in detecting modern malware. However, the accuracy of AI in malware detection is dependent on the quality of the features it is trained with. Static and dynamic analysis of malware is limited by the widespread use of obfuscation and anti-analysis techniques employed by malware authors, where if an analysis environment is detected the malware will hide its malicious behavior. However, Dynamic Binary Instrumentation (DBI) allows deep and precise control of the malware sample, thereby facilitating the extraction of authentic features from sophisticated and evasive …

However, this method has problems in places with limited data and energy, like when planetary robots are used or when edge computing is used [1]. In contrast to this data-heavy approach, animals demonstrate an innate ability to learn by communicating with their environment and forming associative memories among events and entities, a process known as associative learning [2-4]. For instance, rats in a T-maze learn to associate different stimuli with outcomes through exploration without needing labeled data [5]. This learning paradigm …

With NASA's ongoing efforts to establish a presence on the lunar surface to eventually move on to exploring mars, the development of intelligent robotic systems is more important than ever. The ability of robotics to explore hazardous and extreme terrain, coupled with long communication times from earth places an ever increasing need on more robust and efficient autonomy. Tethered robotics offer unique advantages to explore scientific targets both on the lunar and martian surfaces, capable of using their tether as a physical or metaphorical lifeline to allow the exploration of slopes, extreme dark regions, or areas in which wireless communication …

Modern superscalar processors dominate the field of computing. While dynamic execution allows for versatility in code, these processors are complex. Statically scheduled code has historically enabled simpler processor designs, but static scheduling cannot account for variables that are unknown at compile time. Furthermore, static scheduling has many inefficiencies, such as the need to insert a large number of nops for code in traditional Very Long Instruction Word (VLIW) processors. In this dissertation, we explore a novel architectural approach for statically scheduled code by breaking the code into several synchronous instruction streams. By representing code in a fundamentally new way, we …

Dissertations, Master's Theses and Master's Reports
Associative learning, a key cognitive process seen across the animal kingdom, enables organisms to form connections between stimuli and adapt their behaviors based on past experiences. A particularly powerful example is fear conditioning, where animals learn to associate a neutral stimulus with an aversive one, allowing them to predict and avoid potential threats. Inspired by this mechanism, this project implements associative learning on an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) to develop adaptive behavior through neuromorphic principles. Utilizing Nengo for neural modeling, the UGV learns to associate visual (red color) and tactile (vibration) stimuli through Hebbian learning, a biologically inspired synaptic adaptation …
