Simulation Analysis On Radial Diffusion Model For Solidification Process Of Carbon Fiber Production, Lihong Ren, Xu Feng, Yongsheng Ding, Zhang Tao

Journal of System Simulation

Abstract: Considering that Polyacrylonitrile Dimethyl Sulfoxide solution and Dimethyl Sulfoxide aqueous solution were used as the spinning dope and coagulating liquid respectively, the solidification process in spinning system of carbon fiber was studied. The radial concentration distribution and the curve of time-dependence concentration were proposed. The influence of the spinning conditions on the solidification process was investigated by changing the parameters of the model. The results show that extending the coagulation time by using coarser article spinning or increasing the solid content in dope can help to obtain the fiber with uniform structure and densification. The proposed method has good …

Cross-Domain Identification For Thermal-To-Visible Face Recognition, Cedric Nimpa Fondje, Shuowen Hu, Nathaniel J. Short, Benjamin S. Riggan

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering: Faculty Publications

Recent advances in domain adaptation, especially those applied to heterogeneous facial recognition, typically rely upon restrictive Euclidean loss functions (e.g., L2 norm) which perform best when images from two different domains (e.g., visible and thermal) are co-registered and temporally synchronized. This paper proposes a novel domain adaptation framework that combines a new feature mapping sub-network with existing deep feature models, which are based on modified network architectures (e.g., VGG16 or Resnet50). This framework is optimized by introducing new cross-domain identity and domain invariance loss functions for thermal-to-visible face recognition, which alleviates the requirement for precisely co-registered and synchronized imagery. We …
