The Integration of enterprise with the ERP (enterprise resource planning) and EAI (enterprise application integration) is discussed. The ERP supports the centralized business strategy while EAI accomodates the decentralized business processes. The changes brought in by the internet technology led the internalization and extrenalization to move together. The agility and the flexibility in the organizations would be achieved by a greater degree of communication, coordination and cooperation in human factors and information technologies. The enterprise integration fulfills the needs of both internal business processes and external customer by internalization and externalization.

In this master's thesis work, a program was developed using the Perl programming language to enable user defined attack programs to run automatically. A similar program was also developed for background traffic. With this program, the different features of the Nmap exploration and scanning tool were exploited to build scenarios of attacks.
Automated scenarios of attacks running in to the order of hundreds were developed. Also, different sets of automated stealthy attacks scenarios running in to the order of hundreds were developed using the timing modes, stealthy scans and scan delay features of Nmap.

The correctness of a real-time system is very much dependent on the time at which a specific task is completed. Hence, satisfying a storage allocation request within bounded time is important. Fragmentation of the heap after repeated allocations and deallocations is a major issue for real-time systems, as most allocators depend on garbage collection for defragmentation of the heap, which might not finish in time to honor deadlines. We present the storage requirement for a defragmentation-free binary-buddy allocator. General purpose middleware has been shown to be effective in meeting diverse functional requirements for a wide range of distributed systems. Advanced middleware projects have also supported a single quality-of-service dimension such as real-time, fault tolerance, or small memory footprint. However, there is limited experience supporting multiple quality-of-service dimensions in mid-dleware to meet the needs of special purpose applications. In a recent paper M. Bowling, R. Jensen, and M. Veloso proposed a new formalization of the problem of multiagent planning - a formalization that is based on the (intuitively natural) notion of an equilibrium. In this paper we analyze the computational complexity of the corresponding equilibrium-based multiagent planning and plan checking. Within the traditional approach in which states are described by fluents, the computational complexity of planning under incompleteness is PSPACE-hard already for a single agent; therefore, to make a meaningful comparison between the complexity of single-agent and multi-agent planning, we analyze complexity in a different approach, in which …

Mobile devices have evolved with improvements in processing power and support for various application environments such as MExE [1]. Currently a large number of devices and platforms exist, each with various attributes. Such diversity results in problems providing appropriate applications to these devices. This paper outlines need for an integrated approach to application delivery for mobile devices. The solution allows suitable applications to be delivered to devices. Application management is removed from non-technical mobile device users through the presence of a client-side agent to manage the complexity of application provisioning, device resource management and application management.

In traditional statistics, we process crisp data - usually, results of measurements and/or observations. Not all the knowledge comes from measurements and observations. In many real-life situations, in addition to the results of measurements and observations, we have expert estimates, estimates that are often formulated in terms of natural language, like "x is large". Before we analyze how to process these statements, we must be able to translate them in a language that a computer can understand. In this paper we present a simulation study of a hybrid routing protocol we proposed in our previous work. Our hybrid routing strategy is called Dynamic Zone Topology Routing protocol (DZTR). This protocol has been designed to provide scalable routing in a Mobile Ad hoc Networking (MANET) environment. DZTR breaks the network into a number of zones by using a GPS. The topology of each zone is maintained proactively and the route to the nodes in other zones are determined reactively. A number of decoding schemes have been proposed for Layered Space-Time systems, such as the Ordered Successive Interference Cancellation and the Sorted QR Decomposition. We describe here a new addition to that group, increasing the performance of Layered Space-Time decoding by using the Sorted QR Decomposition technique to construct a list of constellations to be passed to a Maximum Likelihood decoder. This paper shows that signifcant performance improvement can be obtained for symmetric systems, where there is an equal number of transmit and receive antennas. Space Time Spreading systems are proposed as a method to enhance communications between the Base Station (BS) and Mobile Station (MS) by using multiple transmit antennas at the Base Station. This provides a form of transmit diversity when there are more than one transmitting antennas. In this paper we propose a model of creation and use of documentation based on the concept of mixed-initiative interaction. In our model, successful single-initiative interaction is characterized by grounding of contributions, and successful mixed-initiative interaction is characterized by both grounding and agreement. Just as in spoken conversation, achievement of actual agreement depends on the intentions of both parties; agreement is achieved when the reader follows the documentation’s instructions. In fact, readers are not obligated to—and often do not—act according to the author’s intentions. By making these dynamics explicit, the model can aid authors in developing effective documentation. In this paper, we introduce an analysis of the requirements and design choices for hands-free documentation. Hands-busy tasks such as cooking or car repair may require substantial interruption of the task: moving the pan off the burner and wiping hands, or crawling out from underneath the car. We review the need for hands-free documentation and explore the role of task in the use of documentation. Our central analysis examines the roles and characteristics of input and output modalities of hands-free documentation. Parametrically tunable audio equalizers are conventionally realized using allpass digital filter networks. They consist of first-order shelving filters and second-order equalizing filters. In this paper, ladder wave digital filters (WDFs) with parametrically tunable coefficients are proposed as shelving and equalizing filters. Similar to the allpass realization, the transfer function power complementary property of WDFs is used to obtain efficient shelving and equalizing filters. However, unlike the allpass structures, the transfer function and the tunable parameters of the ladder WDF are derived from the analog filter equivalent of the digital shelving and equalizing filters. In this paper, we examine the DVD encoding process and the implications this process has video modeling and network traffic analysis. We have assembled a system that allows us to extract the video data from the DVDs as they were encoded for distribution. Analyzing the resulting video trace data, we describe how DVD encodings have evolved over time. In addition, our findings show that the underlying video content is fundamentally different than those produced by basic consumer video capture boards. We demonstrate how this affects current video modeling proposals and their affect on network traffic characterization. This research is based …

This paper discusses the use of character images to determine the parameters of an image degradation model. The acute angles in character images provide information used to find the model parameters. Three experiments are conducted to evaluate the use of characters. In the first experiment, large quantities of corners from character images are used to investigate how their contribution affects the mean and the standard deviation of the parameter estimators. While the classical attack of ``monitor the network and intercept the password'' can be avoided by advanced protocols like SSH, one-time passwords are still considered a viable alternative or a supplement for software authentication since they are the only ones that safeguard against attacks on insecure client machines. In this paper by using public-key techniques we present a method called signature chain alternative to Lamport's hash chain to improve security and flexibility of one-time passwords. This paper deals with the nature of seed electron sources in compressed N_2 for positive polarity. We present an experimental procedure that provides evidence of the fact that collisional detachment from negative ions plays the most important role in the supply of seed electrons. Conditioning phenomena in compressed SF_6, N_2 and air have been simulated under positive lightning impulses for point-plane geometry.

A digitally controlled drive system was implemented in this study to control the speed and direction of a travelling-wave ultrasonic motor. The drive system, based on a 2-phase voltage-fed high-frequency serial-resonant inverter, uses the mechanical resonant frequency of an ultrasonic motor. A TMS320F243 digital signal processor was used to control an ultrasonic motor drive system. The speed control of the ultrasonic motor was achieved with a driving frequency in the 41.3-43.3 kHz frequency range. A simulator with optimal step time (SOST) has been designed to investigate Large HVdc/ac systems. The adequacy and robustness of the simulator will be demonstrated by showing some important applications relevant to operation, operational planning and medium-term planing. Some of the features of our SOST simulator are optimal step time algorithm, interpolation, chatter removal, MATLAB interface, unlimited size of ac system, and Farsi command that help model complex power electronic circuits, provide fast and accurate results. Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering - All Scholarship
The design and development of a prototype computer-based instruction (CBI) module is described. The module covers introductory structural analysis techniques and demonstrates the practicality of CBI for undergraduate engineering education. The module’s generic learning objectives are used to develop a set of guiding principles for CBI development. Choice of authoring software and the module architecture are presented, followed by the details of the user interface, logic, and screen layout. The module design and software development process outlined here are easily extended to computer-based tutorials that present problem solving methods for engineering, mathematics, and the natural sciences.
