Identification Of Copy Number Variations (Cnvs) Of Epigenetic Factors Related To The Progression Of Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma (Pdac), Pavithra Raju

Master's Projects

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a formidable challenge in oncology due to its aggressive form and late-stage detection. PDAC is known to be influenced by various epigenetic factors like DNA methylation and histone modifications. This study focuses on copy number variations (CNVs) within epigenetic factors which for their role in early diagnosis. Thus, paving the way for identification of potential biomarkers. The epigenetic pipeline was extended based on CNVs and the CNV modified sequences extracted were compared with the wild type sequences of epigenetic PDAC genes. The epigenetic gene KCNJ11 with copy number gain of CNV id 46771406 was used …

Mild Cognitive Impairment And Alzheimer’S Disease Detection And Testing Interface (Mci-Addti) Modeller10.4 Integrating Structure-Function Prediction Modules, Grant Galileo Jacobson Jan 2023

Mild Cognitive Impairment And Alzheimer’S Disease Detection And Testing Interface (Mci-Addti) Modeller10.4 Integrating Structure-Function Prediction Modules, Grant Galileo Jacobson

Master's Projects

In the population of adult human patients who over express Beta and Tau Amyloids, it is unclear why 40% of them do not have Alzheimer’s Disease (AD), when all patients with AD have an overexpression of Beta and Tau Amyloids. The MCI-AD-DTI project’s epigenetic pipeline is an evolving computation tool that seeks epigenetic-related information related to the observed disparity. The MCI-AD-DTI’s epigenetic pipeline’s ability to identify mutations currently relies solely on PyPDB for verification of its protein functionality evaluation. The assessment process of the industry standard application, Modeller10.4, is independent from the current epigenetic pipeline’s protein evaluation algorithm. Thus, this …

Estimating Air Pollution Levels Using Machine Learning, Srujay Rao Devaraneni Jan 2023

Estimating Air Pollution Levels Using Machine Learning, Srujay Rao Devaraneni

Master's Projects

Air pollution has emerged as a substantial concern, especially in developing countries worldwide. An important aspect of this issue is the presence of PM2.5. Air pollutants with a diameter of 2.5 or less micrometers are known as PM2.5. Due to their size, these particles are a serious health risk and can quickly infiltrate the lungs, leading to a variety of health problems. Due to growing concerns about air pollution, technology like automatic air quality measurement can offer beneficial assistance for both personal and business decisions. This research suggests an ensemble machine learning model that can efficiently replace the standard air …

Exploring The Math In Support Vector Machines, Vishnu Pendyala

Open Educational Resources

“SVMs are a rare example of a methodology where geometric intuition, elegant mathematics, theoretical guarantees, and practical algorithms meet” – Bennet and Campbell

Support Vector Machines (SVMs) are used for supervised machine learning and have been successful in many applications, including those like image classification that favor deep learning. SVM owes its power to the intriguing math involved in its fabrication. This talk will introduce SVM and cover some of that math. Topics covered will include constrained and unconstrained optimization, convexity, the general notion of a function space, minmax equilibrium, duality, the Cover theorem, Kernels, and the Mercer theorem.

Machine Learning, The Mortar Of Modernization, Vishnu Pendyala

Open Educational Resources

Machine Learning is advancing civilization and is one of the key drivers of the economy today. Machine Learning literacy may one day become essential, the way computer literacy is today. This talk intends to explain Machine Learning concepts to wider audiences by using easy-to-relate real-world analogies and serves as a refresher to those already initiated. A fundamental concept in machine learning is similarity. The dot product that is ubiquitously present in machine learning is a measure of similarity. Similarity is key to human learning as well. We learn in delta increments by comparing and contrasting with what we already know. …

Meta-Algorithms In Machine Learning, Vishnu Pendyala May 2022

Meta-Algorithms In Machine Learning, Vishnu Pendyala

Open Educational Resources

This presentation explores how to make the best of models impacted by bias and variance. Meta-learning minimizes loss. Ensemble methods, including Bagging, Adaboost, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, and Stacking, are discussed. These methods perturb data (X or Y) using techniques like bootstrap sampling, k-fold sampling, weighted sampling, and random subspaces. Models are generated in parallel or sequentially, with aggregation strategies such as mean, mode, weighted response, and metamodel. The presentation also touches upon deep learning and one-shot learning, and explains how distances become less meaningful in high dimensions.

Faster Multidimensional Data Queries On Infrastructure Monitoring Systems, Yinghua Qin, Gheorghi Guzun

Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity

The analytics in online performance monitoring systems have often been limited due to the query performance of large scale multidimensional data. In this paper, we introduce a faster query approach using the bit-sliced index (BSI). Our study covers multidimensional grouping and preference top-k queries with the BSI, algorithms design, time complexity evaluation, and the query time comparison on a real-time production performance monitoring system. Our research work extended the BSI algorithms to cover attributes filtering and multidimensional grouping. We evaluated the query time with the single attribute, multiple attributes, feature filtering, and multidimensional grouping. To compare with the existing prior …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

Libraries may soon be able to establish and manage their own data centres. This paradigm would allow libraries to control the apps and data stores that include sensitive and private information about their users' personal and financial information. The provisioning and management of infrastructure for a Web-based digital library present several complicated difficulties for library administrators. In this article, we address the challenges that digital libraries confront, and the efforts being made to solve those challenges. Infrastructure virtualization and cloud Environment are incredibly enticing options, but they are being challenged by the expansion of the indexed document collection, the addition …

Analysis Of Library Book Borrower Patterns Using Apriori Association Data Mining Techniques, Lucky Zamzami, Ari Agung Prastowo, R Rulinawaty, Robbi Rahim

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

The library is one of the most important facilities because it manages collections of written works, printed works, and recorded works and can provide information resources as well as be a driving force for the advancement of an educational institution. Conventional libraries will have piles of book borrowing transaction data recorded in the agenda book, which is only an archive, and the placement of books far apart, which causes members to take longer to find books when borrowing books of different types, is an issue that must be addressed. To overcome these two issues, a recommendation for an intelligent system …

The 3-degree Digital Twin robotic arm for freedom can diagnose the joints off-board by placing a torque in the robotic arm joint. MATLAB, Simulink®, SimscapeTM, and Simscape Multibody were the basis of this model. Virtual space with a virtual robot arm was connected to a physical space that was a 3D printed replica of the virtual space and robot arm, built using Unity (a modern Game Engine). The arm in the Digital Twin model was created using the hardware prototype’s dimensions, which were then used to simulate a real-world situation. With its revolute joints, the arm has a certain degree …

Traversing from a given point to another while avoiding collision with obstacles is one of the key goals of path planning for robots [1]. Doing so in the most optimal way - the minimum total distance traveled by the robot is the objective of our study [2,3]. To do so, the algorithms implemented on the robots need to constantly map the environment or workspace in real time and subsequently create paths for the traversal in the environment without colliding with objects or obstacles [4,5]. Throughout the years, many researchers have conducted their own studies, researches and have proposed approaches for …
