Innovativeness To Enlarge Digital Readiness - How To Avoid Digital Inertia?, Paul Morsch Jan 2021

Innovativeness To Enlarge Digital Readiness - How To Avoid Digital Inertia?, Paul Morsch

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

Technological developments go fast and are interrelated and multi-interpretable. As consumer needs change, the technological possibilities to meet those needs are constantly evolving and new technology providers introduce new disruptive business models. This makes it difficult to predict what the world of tomorrow will look like for an organization and that makes the risks for organizations substantial. In this context, it is difficult for organizations to determine what constitutes a good strategy to adopt digital developments.

This paper describes a first step of a study with the objective to design a method for organizations to formulate a future-proof strategy in …

Analyzing Social Media Implementation In Hospitals In The U.S. Midwest Region, Dalsang Chung, C. Christopher Lee, David Hwang Jan 2021

Analyzing Social Media Implementation In Hospitals In The U.S. Midwest Region, Dalsang Chung, C. Christopher Lee, David Hwang

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

The purpose of this research is to explore to what scale hospitals are adopting social media and implementing it in accordance with hospital characteristics. We reviewed hospitals’ social media activities on social networking sites such Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. We studied the 912 hospitals in the Midwest region reported in the 2015 American Hospital Association Annual Survey dataset. We reviewed each hospital’s social-networking page to understand the scale of social media adoption relative to the hospital’s characteristics such as bed count, state, ownership type (control), and specialty (service). We also considered whether the hospital is in a network and …

Exploring The Behavioral Intention To Use Collaborative Commerce: A Case Of Uber, C. Christopher Lee, Sinéad Ruane, Hyoun Sook Lim, Ruoquing Zhang, Heechang Shin

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

The goal of our research study is to develop a hybrid instrument built on the revised Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) framework, which is reliable in predicting the behavioral intention to use the Uber ridesharing app. It focuses on extending the UTAUT2 in collaborative consumption, particularly from a consumer and ridesharing-app perspective. Our proposed framework, UTAUT-CC, preserves existing UTAUT2 constructs – performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social expectancy, and facilitating conditions. It also retains demographic moderating variables of age and gender, while maintaining some of the key integral relationships depicted in those models. We integrated three new …

Predictive Maintenance Of Bearing Machinery Using Simulation- A Bibliometric Study, Karan Gulati Mr., Keshav Basandrai Mr., Shubham Tiwari Mr., Pooja Kamat Prof., Satish Kumar Dr.

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

Modelling is a way of constructing a virtual representation of software and hardware that involves a real-world device. We will discover the behaviour of the system if the software elements of this model are guided by mathematical relationships. For testing conditions that may be difficult to replicate with hardware prototypes alone, modelling and simulation are particularly useful, especially in the early phase of the design process when hardware might not be available. Model-based approach in MATLAB-Simulink can be useful for predictive maintenance of machines as it can reduce unplanned downtimes and maintenance costs when industrial equipment breaks. Through this bibliometric …

Hr Process Automation: A Bibliometric Analysis, Shubham Mishra, Monica Kunte, Netra Neelam, Sanjay Bhattacharya, Preeti Mulay

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

Automation is interpreted as the replacement of manual operations by electronics and computer-controlled systems. Human resource management is an indispensable part of every firm be it the space of retail, healthcare, education or any other sector. Activities such as hiring new workers, training, or making sure that local labour laws are obeyed with HR processes and are a crucial part of every organisation. HR has typically been believed of as an extremely manual department procedure. Employees are accustomed to doing this manually and getting the job done themselves. But everything around the HR processes are changing rapidly. HR Automation is …

The data are from the central statistics agency which contains 34 records indicating the number of libraries at the primary and junior high school levels. The proposed method is a combination of the C4.5 and k-means methods. clustering is performed based on the number of clusters (k). Thus, the results will be classified according to …

Evaluating Social Media As A Medium Of Private Communication Through Steganographic Images, Kendall Weldon Coles Jan 2021

Evaluating Social Media As A Medium Of Private Communication Through Steganographic Images, Kendall Weldon Coles

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)

Social media is a vastly used communication tool with billions of users worldwide. These social networks provide users the ability to share their ideas and thoughts through the messages, videos, and images that they post. The images that are shared can possibly be embedded with private messages through the use of a steganographic tool. The messages are embedded in a fashion that doesn’t change the visual appearance of an image. This allows for these types of images to hide in plain sight, which creates the possibility of someone communicating privately in a public social media setting. This project proved how …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

Authentication is an essential step for giving access to resources to authorized individuals and prevent leakage of confidential information. The traditional authentication systems like a pin, card, a password could not differentiate among the authorized users and fakers who have an illegal access to the system. Traditional authentication technique never alerts about the unwanted access to the system. The device that allows the automatic identification of an individual is known as a biometric system. It is not required to remember a password, card, and pin code in the Bio-metric system. Numerous biometric characteristics like the fingerprint, iris, palm print, face …

Memory Foreshadow: Memory Forensics Of Hardware Cryptocurrency Wallets – A Tool And Visualization Framework, Tyler Thomas, Mathew Piscitelli, Ilya Shavrov, Ibrahim Baggili

Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science Faculty Publications

We present Memory FORESHADOW: Memory FOREnSics of HArDware cryptOcurrency Wallets. To the best of our knowledge, this is the primary account of cryptocurrency hardware wallet client memory forensics. Our exploratory analysis revealed forensically relevant data in memory including transaction history, extended public keys, passphrases, and unique device identifiers. Data extracted with FORESHADOW can be used to associate a hardware wallet with a computer and allow an observer to deanonymize all past and future transactions due to hierarchical deterministic wallet address derivation. Additionally, our novel visualization framework enabled us to measure both the persistence and integrity of artifacts produced by the …

This work presents the first account of evaluating learning inside a VR experience created to teach Digital Forensics (DF) concepts, and a hands-on laboratory exercise in Bagging & Tagging a crime scene with digital devices. First, we designed and developed an immersive VR experience which included a lecture and a lab. Next, we tested it with (n = 57) participants in a controlled experiment where they were randomly assigned to a VR group or a physical group. Both groups were subjected to the same lecture and lab, but one was in VR and the other was in the real world. …

Fixing Social Media: Toward A Democratic Digital Commons, Michael Kwet Sep 2020

Fixing Social Media: Toward A Democratic Digital Commons, Michael Kwet

Markets, Globalization & Development Review

In the past few years, big Social Media networks like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube have received intense scrutiny from the intellectual classes. This article critiques the dominant strain of criticism, the neo-Brandeisian School of antitrust, for its narrow focus on “regulated competition” as an appropriate means to “fix social media”. This essay calls for a socialist alternative: a democratic social media commons based on free and open source technology, decentralization, and democratic socialist legal solutions. It reviews how existing solutions like the Fediverse and LibreSocial work, and how they may provide answers for a better way forward.
