Quality Of Life Prediction For Driving Route Planning System Using Image Recognition And Deep Learning, Intouch Prakaisak Jan 2025

Quality Of Life Prediction For Driving Route Planning System Using Image Recognition And Deep Learning, Intouch Prakaisak

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Assessing travel-related Quality of Life (QoL) is a significant challenge due to its reliance on subjective human perception, which is difficult to measure. Traditional studies are often constrained by the limited scope of costly, manual data collection. The significant contribution of this research is the introduction of a new framework that can analyze tourist perception on a large and systematic scale. The novelty of this work lies in the utilization of Google Street View (GSV) as a large-scale visual data source, coupled with the use of a sequence-based model to analyze travel routes, which allows for the simulation of the …

Out-Of-Domain Tuberculosis Detection From Chest X-Ray Images Using Meta Learning With Soft Labels, Kanokphat Jinanarong Jan 2025

Out-Of-Domain Tuberculosis Detection From Chest X-Ray Images Using Meta Learning With Soft Labels, Kanokphat Jinanarong

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Automated tuberculosis screening from chest x-ray images could greatly benefit regions with limited medical resources. However, currently available methods could not handle this problem well due to the difference in chest x-ray images in each region caused by the difference in machine and demographics, the possible noise in the available labels, and other reasons. We therefore propose a new machine learning algorithm that could detect tuberculosis with great accuracy on any other data sources by learning from completely different data sources. We used a model-agnostic meta-learning together with a soft label approach, utilizing the meta-gradient to dynamically adjust the soft …

Endoplanar: Deformable Planar-Based Gaussian Splatting For Surgical Scene Reconstruction, Thatphum Paonim Jan 2025

Endoplanar: Deformable Planar-Based Gaussian Splatting For Surgical Scene Reconstruction, Thatphum Paonim

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Precise modeling of deformable anatomical structures from stereoscopic endoscopic footage plays a critical role in advancing surgical guidance and robotic automation within image-assisted medical procedures. Recent advances in Gaussian splatting have demonstrated real-time visualization capabilities with notable quality on endoscopic data; however, traditional 3D Gaussian representations introduce volumetric artifacts that compromise geometric fidelity and depth accuracy. We address these challenges through EndoPlanar, a deformable planar Gaussian framework that projects volumetric primitives onto planar surfaces. This planar formulation facilitates bias-free depth calculation and normal vector derivation—capabilities that remain elusive with standard ellipsoidal representations. We further incorporate a regularization mechanism to ensure …

Advancing Voice Spoofing Detection In Thai : A Comprehensive Dataset And Performance Analysis On Speaking Styles And Channel Effects, Ticho Urai

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Voice authentication is increasingly used in applications such as banking and call center verification, but it faces serious risks from spoofed voices. Recent advances in text-to-speech (TTS) and voice cloning make it possible to generate highly natural fake speech, creating an urgent need for robust anti-spoofing systems. While most prior work focuses on English, little research addresses the Thai language. To fill this gap, we present the Chula Spoofed Speech (CSS) dataset, a large-scale Thai corpus containing 1.3M utterances of both bona fide and synthetic speech. The synthetic samples are generated using five state-of-the-art TTS systems from the same utterances …

Stable Numerical Solution Of An Elliptic Pde Inverse Problem Subject To Incomplete Boundary Conditions, Qasim Abd Ali Tayyeh

Knowledge Engineering and Data Science

This study addresses the challenging problem of solving inverse elliptic Partial Differential Equations (PDE) with incomplete boundary data, data available only on a part of the domain boundary. The aim is to develop a robust, effective numerical framework that consistently recovers parameters and/or sources from incomplete, ill-posed data. In the case of a variational problem discretized by the Finite Element Method (FEM) and solved by an adjoint-based optimization strategy, the framework uses Tikhonov regularization. Morozov's Discrepancy Principle is used to determine regularization parameters that achieve the best balance between accuracy and stability. Even with 5% noise in the measurement data, …

Automatic Scoring Cornhole Board System, Eric Diffendal, Jonah Harsh, Connor Lengel, Brett Sukie

Williams Honors College, Honors Research Projects

The objective is to create a self-scoring cornhole board that can detect and calculate each team's score based on the bags thrown each round and to be created at a low cost/eventually being sold at the current cost of a normal board. When playing cornhole, the game is simple: throw a bag on the board; however, the scores are variable (deduct and add) across each round. The most common issue when playing cornhole is miscalculations of the scores and forgetting the correct scores. Thus, this invention will make gameplay easy for all to play.

Browse all Theses and Dissertations

Software vulnerabilities are a major cause of security breaches, making effective detection critical. Traditional learning-based methods require large datasets and significant computational resources, which are often impractical due to high annotation costs and data scarcity. To address this, we propose an innovative system, RearVul, which Re-parameterizes adversarial reprogramming in a low-dimensional subspace for software vulnerability detection. Unlike conventional approaches, RearVul repurposes a pre-trained classification model using adversarial reprogramming, enabling detection with minimal modifications. It learns a universal perturbation applied to program representations, preserving the original model’s feature extraction capabilities while adapting it to a new domain. Furthermore, we introduce a …

Ad Hoc wireless networks, with their decentralized architecture and dynamic topology, present challenges in reliable and energy-efficient routing. While machine learning (ML) and reinforcement learning (RL) offer promising solutions, progress is limited by the lack of realistic, high-fidelity datasets. This research introduces a simulation-based framework for generating four diverse datasets representing combinations of node mobility (mobile vs. static) and spatial distribution (random vs. clustered). Each dataset captures critical metrics such as Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR), bottleneck rate, and power consumption across multi-hop paths. A lookahead-based greedy routing algorithm with scenario-aware power control is implemented to emulate practical behavior. Supervised ML models, …

This thesis addressed two main challenges in biological data analysis: structure-preserving dimensionality reduction and synthetic data generation for small sample datasets. I proposed the Isometric Centroid Encoder (ICE), a supervised dimensionality reduction method that preserves pairwise distances between class centroids during dimension reduction. Unlike existing methods like Centroid Encoder and Super Encoder, ICE explicitly maintains geometric relationships between biological classes, achieving nearly perfect structure preservation at C dimensions (where C equals the number of classes) with strong performance even in 2D and 3D spaces. Additionally, I compared three generative models (VAE, LSH-GAN, and scDiffusion) for synthetic data generation on small …

Artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to transform science education, yet questions remain on how best to integrate these technologies into teaching and learning. This dissertation investigates the use of AI-driven tools in university physics courses through three complementary studies. In the first study, a generative language model (ChatGPT) was used to create novel physics homework problems aligned with course objectives. Analysis showed that, after expert vetting, AI-generated questions can foster higher-order problem-solving and reduce student reliance on solution memorization, though careful instructor oversight is required to ensure accuracy. The second study embedded an AI chatbot as a learning aid in …
