The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) can be used as good flying base stations to cache popular content and follow a user mobility pattern, to help them in a suitable services. Conventional edge caching algorithms often prioritize cache contents with higher popularity. Nevertheless, the cache capacity of mobile devices is restricted, and diverse clients may have expansive varieties in content inclination designs. In this manner, the performance and effectiveness of the cache will be so constrained without great strategies. The composition of recommender system and edge caching is considered as a new research topic, which is used to reduce cost and …

Advanced Prediction Of Events And Temporal Expressions In Medical Text Using The Jena Api: Integrating Ontologies And Deep Learning, Hafida Tiaiba, Lyazid Sabri, Okba Kazar
Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences
The automatic recognition of medical concepts and temporal expressions in narrative clinical text enhances the utility of electronic health records (EHRs) and supports clinical decision-making and research. However, challenges arise due to the complexity of medical language, ambiguity of terms, and variability in expression. To address these issues, the use of medical ontologies significantly improves data management in healthcare. A novel approach integrates various medical ontologies covering drugs, symptoms, diseases, anatomy, disease drivers, and food, and with convolutional neural networks (CNNs) -including Standard, Transposed, and Separable convolution models (CONSEPTR)- to extract both medical events (e.g., clinical departments, treatments, problems) and …

Dashar: An Implementation Of Augmented Reality Technology For Automotive Applications, Trevor D. Brown
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
Since the advent of the modern automobile, manufacturers have provided means of tracking various critical data points associated with automobile operation, with the most prominent and standardized method being the instrument cluster. These data points include, but are not limited to, automobile speed, engine speed, fuel level, oil temperature, radiator (water) temperature, and battery charge. While this data is updated in real-time as the automobile is running, traditional instrument clusters cannot be modified or adjusted to the automobile driver’s needs, unless extensive after-market modifications are made. These modifications can be expensive, and require great understanding of the automobile’s assembly.

Environment And Intention Awareness For Navigation And Collaboration, Bhaskar Chandra Trivedi
Computer Science and Engineering Dissertations - Archive
Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) have become increasingly popular as versatile platforms for tasks such as surveillance, inspection, delivery, and maintenance. In many applications, UAS operate in environments frequented by people or containing sensitive infrastructure, which introduces physical risks in case of vehicle failure, as well as psychological and privacy concerns that may limit their acceptability. Ensuring safe and efficient operation thus requires that UAS consider these risks when planning navigation strategies. While prior information, such as city maps and building layouts, can partially inform risk assessment, such data is often incomplete, necessitating real-time augmentation of risk maps using sensor information. …

This study examines the detectability and disruptability of covert timing channel traffic in secure drones. The investigation aims to ascertain the effects of multiple interarrival times, distances ranging from 1 to 330 feet, various detection algorithms, and stream sizes between 32-bit …
Motion Planning For A Flexible Modular Raft Robot, Chun-Yi She
Motion Planning For A Flexible Modular Raft Robot, Chun-Yi She
Dartmouth College Master’s Theses
This thesis presents a hierarchical motion planning framework for SoftRafts, a modular and deformable aquatic robot capable of performing locomotion and manipulation tasks on water surfaces. SoftRafts consist of soft and rigid components that enable structural reconfiguration, offering adaptability in unstructured aquatic environments.
To address the complexity of planning in high-dimensional, deformable systems, the proposed method uses a bounding-shape abstraction, specifically, enclosing circles and rectangular bounding boxes to simplify motion planning. These enclosures abstract the robot's overall shape, reducing the high-dimensional planning problem into a lower-dimensional problem. A global planner uses a probabilistic roadmap (PRM) to compute a collision-free path …

Automated Infinite Combos Detection System For Collectible Card Game, Amornpong Trakarnkulphun
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
In Collectible Card Games, resources management is one of the most effective strategy. However, there are some combinations of cards which produce unlimited resources called infinite combos. Too-cheap infinite combos that can be played early in the game break game environment, because the player who executes the combo immediately wins. To solve the problem, game designers usually restrict a part of the combos from being played. Due to the large number of cards in the card pool, it is difficult to search for these combos and solve this problem before a release date of a card set. This research aims …

Assessing travel-related Quality of Life (QoL) is a significant challenge due to its reliance on subjective human perception, which is difficult to measure. Traditional studies are often constrained by the limited scope of costly, manual data collection. The significant contribution of this research is the introduction of a new framework that can analyze tourist perception on a large and systematic scale. The novelty of this work lies in the utilization of Google Street View (GSV) as a large-scale visual data source, coupled with the use of a sequence-based model to analyze travel routes, which allows for the simulation of the …
Out-Of-Domain Tuberculosis Detection From Chest X-Ray Images Using Meta Learning With Soft Labels, Kanokphat Jinanarong
Out-Of-Domain Tuberculosis Detection From Chest X-Ray Images Using Meta Learning With Soft Labels, Kanokphat Jinanarong
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Automated tuberculosis screening from chest x-ray images could greatly benefit regions with limited medical resources. However, currently available methods could not handle this problem well due to the difference in chest x-ray images in each region caused by the difference in machine and demographics, the possible noise in the available labels, and other reasons. We therefore propose a new machine learning algorithm that could detect tuberculosis with great accuracy on any other data sources by learning from completely different data sources. We used a model-agnostic meta-learning together with a soft label approach, utilizing the meta-gradient to dynamically adjust the soft …
Endoplanar: Deformable Planar-Based Gaussian Splatting For Surgical Scene Reconstruction, Thatphum Paonim
Endoplanar: Deformable Planar-Based Gaussian Splatting For Surgical Scene Reconstruction, Thatphum Paonim
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Precise modeling of deformable anatomical structures from stereoscopic endoscopic footage plays a critical role in advancing surgical guidance and robotic automation within image-assisted medical procedures. Recent advances in Gaussian splatting have demonstrated real-time visualization capabilities with notable quality on endoscopic data; however, traditional 3D Gaussian representations introduce volumetric artifacts that compromise geometric fidelity and depth accuracy. We address these challenges through EndoPlanar, a deformable planar Gaussian framework that projects volumetric primitives onto planar surfaces. This planar formulation facilitates bias-free depth calculation and normal vector derivation—capabilities that remain elusive with standard ellipsoidal representations. We further incorporate a regularization mechanism to ensure …
Advancing Voice Spoofing Detection In Thai : A Comprehensive Dataset And Performance Analysis On Speaking Styles And Channel Effects, Ticho Urai
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Voice authentication is increasingly used in applications such as banking and call center verification, but it faces serious risks from spoofed voices. Recent advances in text-to-speech (TTS) and voice cloning make it possible to generate highly natural fake speech, creating an urgent need for robust anti-spoofing systems. While most prior work focuses on English, little research addresses the Thai language. To fill this gap, we present the Chula Spoofed Speech (CSS) dataset, a large-scale Thai corpus containing 1.3M utterances of both bona fide and synthetic speech. The synthetic samples are generated using five state-of-the-art TTS systems from the same utterances …

Collegiate basketball is characterized by high-impact movements such as jump landings, making athletes more susceptible to injuries. Critical biomechanical factors like knee flexion, lateral trunk flexion, and foot landing asymmetry are strongly associated with injury risk. This study aims to predict six biomechanical risk factors in the landing error scoring system (LESS). The dataset comprises 8600 video frames of counter-movement jumps (CMJs) from 17 NCAA Division I female basketball athletes, recorded from frontal and lateral perspectives and annotated using a customized error annotation algorithm. The study uses the You Only Look Once (YOLOv5nu) model to analyze the basketball athletes’ CMJ …

The objective is to create a self-scoring cornhole board that can detect and calculate each team's score based on the bags thrown each round and to be created at a low cost/eventually being sold at the current cost of a normal board. When playing cornhole, the game is simple: throw a bag on the board; however, the scores are variable (deduct and add) across each round. The most common issue when playing cornhole is miscalculations of the scores and forgetting the correct scores. Thus, this invention will make gameplay easy for all to play.

Cyber-attacks are becoming increasingly common and damaging as technology advances each year. Many businesses cannot afford the latest security technologies, and even with the highest security measures, there can still be room for employee error or insider threats that are not taken into account. It is crucial to keep these factors in mind when securing a business network of any size or financial standing. This project will aim to simulate a business environment by first building a small network with three routers and a switch, and implementing some of the common best practices for network hardening from credible organizations like NIST …

Sepsis is a leading cause of pediatric mortality, claiming more lives in the United States annually than all childhood cancers combined. Early identification in Emergency Departments (EDs) remains challenging, as the current Phoenix criteria establishes an updated international consensus definition for sepsis, however is not designed for use as a screening tool. This study aimed to develop predictive models identifying pediatric patients at risk of sepsis within 24 hours of admission. Multiple tree-based and deep learning models were trained utilizing clinical and laboratory data from the initial four hours of presentation. Both the LightGBM and LSTM architectures demonstrated superior performance, …

This study investigates how Iyengar yoga postures influence autonomic nervous system (ANS) activity by analyzing multimodal physiological signals collected via wearable sensors. The physiological mechanisms underlying Iyengar yoga’s therapeutic effects remain under-explored at the granular, pose-level. Using data collected from 16 participants, this research evaluates whether machine learning models can distinguish between baseline, parasympathetic-dominant, and sympathetic-dominant states based on wrist-worn sensor data. The goals were to explore whether subtle postural variations elicit measurable autonomic responses and to identify which sensor features most effectively capture these changes. Participants performed a sequence of yoga poses while wearing synchronized sensors measuring electrodermal activity …

Explainability, interpretability and adaptability (EIA) remain three central motivations for next-generation Artificial Intelligence (AI), especially as Large Language Models (LLMs) continue to engage with ever-increasing knowledge bodies. As the landscape pushes toward controllable agentic Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems where AI agents engage in iterative, guided reasoning, a critical question arises as to the extent to which the knowledge design itself shapes these models' reasoning behavior. This work conducts a systematic evaluation of how different conceptualizations and representation of the identical knowledge affect an LLM's path-based reasoning capabilities. Through the introduction of controlled variations along graph structural complexity, linguistic and semantic …

Software vulnerabilities are a major cause of security breaches, making effective detection critical. Traditional learning-based methods require large datasets and significant computational resources, which are often impractical due to high annotation costs and data scarcity. To address this, we propose an innovative system, RearVul, which Re-parameterizes adversarial reprogramming in a low-dimensional subspace for software vulnerability detection. Unlike conventional approaches, RearVul repurposes a pre-trained classification model using adversarial reprogramming, enabling detection with minimal modifications. It learns a universal perturbation applied to program representations, preserving the original model’s feature extraction capabilities while adapting it to a new domain. Furthermore, we introduce a …
