Improved Foggy Pedestrian And Vehicle Detection Algorithm Based On Yolov5, Tong Su, Ying Wang, Qiyang Deng, Zhaobin Li
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Due to the poor environment perception of car in bad weather, the detection ability on dynamic targets is significantly reduced, and thus the problems such as low accuracy and poor robustness of the deep learning-based target detection network will occur when detecting pedestrians and vehicles in foggy days. A YOLOv5-SGE foggy detection network is proposed on the basis of the combination of image dehazing DehazeNet and the improved YOLOv5. The adaptive calculation of anchor frame is realized by canceling the initial anchor frame of YOLOv5, and the anchor frame suitable for the current dataset is generated. A three-dimensional weighted …

A Method For Battlefield Situation Information Ontology Construction Based On Top-Down And Bottom-Up Integration, Cong Zhou, Sihang Zhou, Jian Huang, Dong Wang
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: The construction of the unified expression model of battlefield situational information is challenging due to the complexity of data sources and the significant differences in data structures and expression methods. Ontologies, as semantic conceptual models, are often used to describe concepts, relationships, and attributes within knowledge domains. An ontology construction method for the battlefield situational information domain based on a top-down and bottom-top integration is proposed. The top-down method is used to construct the upper ontology, in which a conceptual hierarchy model with a clear top-down structure is designed to establish the hierarchical relationships and semantic associations. A bottom-up …

Instructional designers, instructional systems designers, and other educational technologists are, by their nature, innovators. These professionals apply and extend the applied science of learning, systems, communication, and instructional design theory to help students learn. Technology in some capacity is used to make the connections between subject matter experts, teachers, instructors, and their learners. It is common for instructional designers to seek new tools, techniques, and innovations for the improvement of learning, access, quality, and student satisfaction. However, the adoption and diffusion of new educational technology and innovation is a complex process that depends on many variables. Understanding these processes and …

Etdsuite: A Toolkit To Mine Electronic Theses And Dissertations To Enrich Scholarly Big Data Using Natural Language Processing And Computer Vision, Muntabir Hasan Choudhury
Computer Science Theses & Dissertations
In the past decades, there has been a growing interest in mining scientific documents to obtain domain knowledge automatically. One of the understudied types of scientific documents is Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs), as ETDs have distinct features compared with conference proceedings and journal articles. ETDs usually serve as partial requirements of academic degrees for students pursuing higher education. They are book-length documents (i.e., 100 – 400 pages long), and the topics may shift across chapters, exhibit the significant contribution of a student’s research over the entire degree pursuing period, and have unique metadata schema and page layouts. However, the …

Inadequate toothbrushing habits are a leading cause of oral health problems such as tooth decay. Many individuals are uncertain if they are brushing effectively or over-focusing on specific areas. While high-end electric toothbrushes can address these concerns, manual toothbrushes remain widely used due to their simplicity and affordability. In this paper, we introduce BrushBuds, an earphone-based toothbrushing monitoring system aimed at tracking brushing areas, which leverages the ubiquitous presence of earphones to enhance manual toothbrushing. BrushBuds utilizes Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) in earphones to detect subtle head movements incurred by toothbrushing. By capturing distinct motion patterns specific to brushing for …

Adversarial Simulation Testing Algorithm For Svm Based On Multi-Objective Evolutionary Optimization, Feixing Li, Lining Xing, Yu Zhou
Journal of System Simulation
Abstract: Machine learning typically mines underlying patterns and rules from data, making it susceptible to phenomena such as overfitting and underfitting, which in turn affects the generalization and robustness of learning models. This paper explores the potential fragility and instability of SVM from the perspective of adversarial simulation testing. The adversarial simulation strategy employed involves selectively contaminating training sample labels to simulate an attack on the SVM classifier, thereby degrading its performance and testing its dependency on training samples. To explore the ceiling of performance degradation of an SVM classifier under the combination attack of different samples, the contradictory objectives …

The system model based on operation loop theory can be combined with the relationship between sensor, decision-making, influence, and target nodes for system capability calculation, but the existing model is usually only suitable for static analysis and cannot be used for dynamic simulation of SoS confrontation. In order to solve the problems above, a SoS confrontation simulation method based on operation loops is proposed. It abstracts both rivals’ …

Computer Science and Computer Engineering Faculty Publications and Presentations
In this paper we present a model containing modifications to the Signal-passing Tile Assembly Model (STAM), a tile-based self-assembly model whose tiles are capable of activating and deactivating glues based on the binding of other glues. These modifications consist of an extension to 3D, the ability of tiles to form “flexible” bonds that allow bound tiles to rotate relative to each other, and allowing tiles of multiple shapes within the same system. We call this new model the STAM*, and we present a series of constructions within it that are capable of self-replicating behavior. Namely, the input seed assemblies to …
