Air quality impacts public health, environmental sustainability, and quality of life. However, accurate and easily accessible short-term air quality forecasting is challenging to find. This project, Clear Skies, presents a machine learning–based system for forecasting next-day Air Quality Index (AQI) levels across regions in Ohio. By using historical pollutant data with variables such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, and atmospheric pressure, the system finds relationships that traditional statistical models often don’t show.

Electric Submersible Pumps (ESPs) are one of the important artificial lift methods for sustaining production in mature and high-water-cut wells; but may suffer frequent failures due to mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, chemical, and operational failures. These failures can yield substantial deferred production and intervention costs. Plenty of ESP installations are fitted with downhole sensors. Determining the degree of salinity plays a crucial role in the rational use of land resources and increasing agricultural efficiency. This study rigorously evaluates machine learning models for classifying culturally significant Javanese Wuku texts from the “Keagamaan atau Spiritual” category, a domain challenged by unique linguistic nuances and limited digitized resources. We compared Support Vector Machine (SVM), Naïve Bayes, and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) on texts from five pivotal Wuku types (Sinta, Galungan, Kuningan, Sungsang, Warigalit) sourced from sastra.org, aiming to identify the most effective computational approach. This presentation explores how to make the best of models impacted by bias and variance. Meta-learning minimizes loss. Ensemble methods, including Bagging, Adaboost, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, and Stacking, are discussed. These methods perturb data (X or Y) using techniques like bootstrap sampling, k-fold sampling, weighted sampling, and random subspaces. Models are generated in parallel or sequentially, with aggregation strategies such as mean, mode, weighted response, and metamodel. The presentation also touches upon deep learning and one-shot learning, and explains how distances become less meaningful in high dimensions.
