High-dimensional data play an important role in knowledge discovery and data science. Integration of visualization, visual analytics, machine learning (ML), and data mining (DM) are the key aspects of data science research for high-dimensional data. This thesis is to explore the efficiency of a new algorithm to convert non-images data into raster images by visualizing data using heatmap in the collocated paired coordinates (CPC). Pneumonia is one of the leading causes of infections in the lung area and deaths worldwide. The mortality rate is 24.8% for patients over 70 years of age due to other health complications present along with it. In least fortunate countries, pneumonia can often times go untreated because of how cost extensive it is to diagnose, especially severe cases that cannot be seen by a plain X-ray. Techniques based on artificial neural networks represent the current state-of-the-art in machine learning due to the availability of improved hardware and large data sets. Here we employ doc2vec, an unsupervised neural network, to capture the semantic content of text messages sent by adolescents during high school, and encode this semantic content as numeric vectors. These vectors effectively condense the text message data into highly leverageable inputs to a logistic regression classifier in a matter of hours, as compared to the tedious and often quite lengthy task of manually coding data. For face recognition, some very large-scale datasets are publicly available in recent years which are usually collected from the internet using search engines, and thus have many faces with wrong identity labels (outliers). Additionally, the face images in these datasets have different qualities. Since the low quality face images are hard to identify, current automated identity label cleaning methods are not able to detect the identity label error in the low quality faces. Companion characters in are present in many video games across genres, serving the role of the player's partner. Their goal is to support the player's strategy and to immerse the player by providing a believable companion. These companions often only perform rigidly scripted actions and fail to adapt to an individual player's play-style, detracting from their usefulness. Behavior like this can also become frustrating to the player if the companions become more of a hindrance than they are a benefit.
