Hiring Practices For Skilled Craftsmen In The Construction Industry, Jimmy A. Off
Hiring Practices For Skilled Craftsmen In The Construction Industry, Jimmy A. Off
Graduate Research Papers
The building construction industry experiences wild fluctuations in demand. Additionally, the industry is characterized by a competitive bid structure. A high labor turnover rate is the natural consequence of these conditions. Compounding this problem is the building industry's highly labor intensive nature. Since contractors will perform the hiring process so frequently, their procedures must be able to identify the best qualified applicants.
The current economic recession has brought many construction firms to a point of near idleness. The unemployment rate among skilled craftsmen is high. This has created a buyer's market in which the contractors can choose the most qualified …

Bulletin Ma 20 - Sheep Yard Plans - Flocks Up To 500, D. Bicknell
Animal production and livestock published reports
Manjimup Regional Office
Owners of small flocks often use much more labour per sheep than do owners of large flocks. Most of the difference in labour use is the design of sheep sheds and sheep yards, and a smaller affect from the mob size and experience in handling sheep.
This booklet gives some detail on design and construction of yards and a number of yard plans to handle up to 500 or so sheep. Many of the plans are from an Australian Wool Corporation publicatiot1 "Wool Harvesting Notes".
Analytical And Experimental Stresses In Concrete Pavements And Unbonded Overlays, Ahmad Jaber
Analytical And Experimental Stresses In Concrete Pavements And Unbonded Overlays, Ahmad Jaber
Dissertations and Theses
The principal objective of this study is to determine the accuracy of calculating stresses in concrete pavements and unbonded overlays under different loading conditions. The computed stresses for the single layer pavements are obtained based on Westergaard theory, the finite-element model (ILLI-SLAB), and the elastic layered model (ELSYM5). For the two-layer unbonded systems, stresses are estimated based on the finite-element theory and the Portland Cement Association design method. The experimental results for the comparison were available from a series of tests done on model scale concrete pavements and unbonded overlays. The results of present investigation show that the computed stresses …
Computer Usage In The Construction Industry And Construction Education, Stephen Douglas Stulken
Computer Usage In The Construction Industry And Construction Education, Stephen Douglas Stulken
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
The rapid growth of computer usage in American society, and in the construction industry in particular, has important implications for construction education programs. There is a lack of current information about computer usage in the construction industry. Without this information, construction educators are less likely to provide students with relevant computer competencies that relate to the needs of the construction industry.
The objective of this study was to determine to what extent construction education programs provide the necessary computer competencies for their students. This was accomplished by comparing the current status of computer usage in the construction industry with computer-related …
