Recently, CFD has offered a technological solution for modelling multi-phase flow in which we can make endless simulations with reduced expenses and effort in high accuracy results; we shall also mention that experimental studies have limitations for safety considerations when experimenting with flow in high temperature or pressure values or medium nature as in nuclear or chemical flows. In this paper, we used the ANSYS FLUENT CFD program to simulate the two-phase flow in a pipe to study the effect of attaching a 90-degree elbow fitting to the piping system, seeking to find out the change in the pattern and resulting …

Ilmenite is often used as a weighting agent in drilling fluids to increase the fluid density, but the formation of a filter cake on the borehole wall can impact cementing operations and reduce well productivity. To remove the filter cake, various techniques can be employed such as chemical treatments, mechanical methods, or a combination of both. The goal of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of chemical removal of ilmenite-based filter cake using 7.5 wt.% hydrochloric acid (HCl) and hydroxyethyl ethylenediamine triacetic acid (HEDTA) – chelating agent. The filter cakes were generated using API filter press under harsh conditions …
Reasons Why Oil Reserves Remain Unproductive-A Case Study, Mohamed Al-Saho
Reasons Why Oil Reserves Remain Unproductive-A Case Study, Mohamed Al-Saho

By studying the production plans of some wells of Al Furat Petroleum Company, the researcher noticed that the rate of production increases to reach a peak and then falls back sharply. The deformation of the area around the well due to the decrease in the formation pressure (after production for a certain period) may have caused a change in the storage properties (porosity, permeability) and thus lower production rate. However, from the point of view of the geomechanics of the oil formation, which includes the study of the stress situation and its effect on the rock tissue, we will notice …

Supply chain management plays a significant role for running business efficiently, as it integrates management of materials and information flows between supply chain parties Fuzzy Inference System (FIS) and Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) are expert systems widely used to deal with imprecise and vague data. In this paper FIS and ANFIS are implemented to deal with the uncertainty regarding demand, lead time and inventory level in continuous inventory control system in order to obtain the optimal order quantity and reorder point. These two models are compared with Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) model at the different service level to …

Gas viscosity is an important physical property that controls and influences the flow of gas through porous media and pipe networks. An accurate gas viscosity model is essential for use with reservoir and process simulators. The present study is concerned with the evaluation of available gas viscosity correlations. The paper also presents new models for predicting gas viscosity for Yemeni gas reservoirs. The most often used different correlations for gas viscosity were assisted for Yemeni gas samples. The limitations of these correlations have been analyzed using Yemeni field data. Calculations are made using 120 experimental data points from Yemeni gas …
