Designing And Implementing A Classification Model For Mangoes Based On Size And Ripeness Using Image Processing, An Van Vo, Hau Van Mai, Hung Duy Ha, Tam Thanh Bui

Makara Journal of Technology

Image processing is an advanced technology that significantly supports production, identification, and quality control for fruits. This paper uses image processing techniques to develop a mango classification system based on size and ripeness. The system integrates hardware, including an Arduino microcontroller, camera, sensors, actuators, and a user-friendly computer interface for monitoring and control. The classification algorithm extracts key features of the mangoes, such as their color and shape, to categorize them into predefined quality classes. Experimental results demonstrate that the system achieves an accuracy exceeding 90% for both ripeness and size classification, with a productivity level of 300 kg/hour, surpassing …

Kinetics Model Of Cananga (Cananga Odorata) Fresh Flower Extraction Using Microwave Hydrodistillation Method, Darnengsih Darnengsih, Hikmatun Ni’Mah, Mahfud Mahfud, Ayu Chandra Kartika Fitri

Makara Journal of Science

Recent studies have focused on improving essential oil extraction methods by incorporating advanced technologies, such as microwave-assisted hydrodistillation (MHD). Despite these advancements, further research is necessary to fully understand how different kinetic models influence extraction efficiency. This study evaluates several kinetic models for extracting essential oil from fresh Cananga flowers using MHD, examining how varying microwave power affects extraction rates and correlates with kinetic model parameters. The extraction process involved introducing 200 grams of fresh Cananga flowers in 400 mL of distilled water and subjecting the mixture to microwave power levels of 200 W, 400 W, and 600 W. The …

Development Of Yam-Starch-Based Bioplastics With The Addition Of Chitosan And Clove Oil, Ulyarti Ulyarti, Lavlinesia Lavlinesia, Surhaini Surhaini, Nurainun Siregar, Anggel Tomara, Lisani Lisani, Nazarudin Nazarudin Jun 2021

Development Of Yam-Starch-Based Bioplastics With The Addition Of Chitosan And Clove Oil, Ulyarti Ulyarti, Lavlinesia Lavlinesia, Surhaini Surhaini, Nurainun Siregar, Anggel Tomara, Lisani Lisani, Nazarudin Nazarudin

Makara Journal of Science

The potency of yam starch (Dioscorea alata) as film-forming material together with the potency of chitosan and clove oil as antibacterial materials has led the authors to produce active bioplastics based on these materials. This research was performed to determine the effect of chitosan and clove oil on the physical, mechanical, and barrier properties of yam starch’s active bioplastics. The best bioplastics produced were further tested for their antimicrobiological properties. This study used a completely randomized design with five levels of chitosan concentration (1%, 1.2%, 1.4%, 1.6%, and 1.8%) and five levels of clove oil concentration (0.3%, 0.6%, …

Pillars Of Sustainable Development–Land Capability And Conceptual Project Design, Ian D. Hollingsworth Dec 2020

Pillars Of Sustainable Development–Land Capability And Conceptual Project Design, Ian D. Hollingsworth

Journal of Environmental Science and Sustainable Development

Conserving land capability is a pillar of sustainable development strategy. Land units comprising unique combinations of native vegetation, soils, geology, and landforms are used to interpret local environmental processes and land capabilities. An emerging practice is extrapolation modeling of edaphic parameter surfaces in Digital Soil Mapping (DSM) using statistical correlation. Commercial studies of land capability for sustainable development, including a mine closure in a national park, another closure for grazing land restoral, urban stormwater flood mitigation, and wind farm development in plantation forestry, are presented to illustrate applications and review the utility of DSM data. The first case, a mine …

Implementation Of Biogas-Based Energy Security Program And Evaluation Of Its Sustainability In Kediri Village, Pringsewu District, Lampung Province, Sri Ismiyati Damayanti, Simparmin Ginting, Otik Nawansih, Siti Hudaidah

ASEAN Journal of Community Engagement

The Biogas-based energy security program in Kediri Village, Pringsewu District, Lampung Province, aims to provide awareness and knowledge to villagers about the potential of cow dung to be made into biogas and promote awareness of good environment quality. An evaluation of the sustainability of the program in the community was conducted. The methods that were used in this program are (1) socialization to provide awareness of good environment quality and energy security, (2) digester construction and stove and biogas lamp installation, which was carried out by the community together with certified trainers, (3) creation of a master design of the …
