As the aviation industry stands on the brink of a revolutionary change, aspiring pilots are increasingly drawn to the exciting prospect of flying electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The allure of this cutting-edge technology has many asking: “How does one become an eVTOL pilot in the United States?” This question opens up a cascade of inquiries about the future of flight training, the certification process and the transition for existing pilots into this new realm of aviation like:
• What will the flight training curriculum look like for eVTOL aircraft?
• Who will be the pioneering Certified Flight …
Consumer Preferences And Willingness To Pay For Vertiport Design, Amenities, And Services, David C. Ison
Consumer Preferences And Willingness To Pay For Vertiport Design, Amenities, And Services, David C. Ison
International Journal of Aviation, Aeronautics, and Aerospace
The rise of urban air mobility (UAM) and electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft necessitates the development of well-designed vertiports that align with consumer expectations. This study examines consumer preferences and willingness to pay (WTP) for vertiport design, amenities, and services to inform infrastructure planning and investment strategies. Using a survey-based quantitative research design, data were collected from 500 participants to assess key factors influencing WTP, including convenience, security measures, service efficiency, and premium offerings. Findings indicate that location accessibility, affordability, and streamlined security procedures are primary determinants of vertiport adoption. While aesthetic and retail enhancements contribute to passenger …

This briefing provides a high and low altitude view of what is coming in the way of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) innovation. It is meant for county, town, or city officials; tribal governments; local businesspersons; airport, heliport, Fixed Base Operator (FBO), flight schools’ owners/operators; and other individuals; who wish to capitalize on, and prepare for, a US industry expected to hit around USD 68 Billion by 2032. Is your community or organization prepared for this new economy? Are your customers, or constituents accepting of these new technologies? Are you ready to capitalize on this AAM market and all the growth …

The objective of this study is to assess the operational viability of introducing Electric Vertical Take-Of and Landing (eVTOL) vehicles in São Paulo and its metropolitan area, utilizing existing helipads and helicopter infrastructure. eVTOL aircraft, capable of vertical take-of and landing like helicopters, difer from traditional helicopters in their propulsion systems, with eVTOLs typically featuring multiple smaller electric motor-driven propulsion units instead of internal combustion engines and mechanical transmissions (Schuchardt et al. 2023). The study specifcally targets eVTOLs with the capacity to transport a minimum of four passengers and one pilot for distances of at least 50 km. Appendix provides …
Delphi Panel For Establishing Land Use Compatibility Areas And Standards For Vertiports, David C. Ison
Delphi Panel For Establishing Land Use Compatibility Areas And Standards For Vertiports, David C. Ison
International Journal of Aviation, Aeronautics, and Aerospace
This study aimed to determine land use compatibility guidelines for vertiports, which are locations where vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft operate. The study employed a three-round e-Delphi panel to establish vertiport land use compatibility zones and standards. The results reached a consensus of at least 70%, providing comprehensive land use compatibility recommendations for vertiports. The study provides a foundation for vertiport land use compatibility planning, ensuring the integration of vertiports in existing communities. The findings can also increase public and local officials' awareness of the needs and requirements of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) infrastructure development. The uniformity between existing …

Clean-Fuel E-Vtol Air Mobility Vehicles For Unmanned And Manned Operations, Larry D. Mccarroll, Brian Morrison, Bruce J. Holmes D.E., Faiaa, Fraes, Henry Vu
National Training Aircraft Symposium (NTAS)
Imagine for a moment, having your very own safe, affordable, clean-fuel, point-to-any point vehicle for travel in the 21st-century 3-dimensional airspace system. Your ultra-reliable e-VTOL allows commuters to leave behind the constraints of hub-and-spoke airports, and the congestion of interstates, turnpikes and freeways. Facilitating Inter- and Intra-urban travel, such as downtown-to-airport, or metropolis-to-metropolis, or home-to-work. Perfect for dense urban environments worldwide. And all while offering the clean power of hydrogen for zero-emission travel.
This vision for efficient, clean, delay-free mobility has been talked about for decades, but always waived aside as some kind of futurist vision. This future requires tackling …
