Implementation Of Radial Basis Function Artificial Neural Network Into An Adaptive Equivalent Consumption Minimization Strategy For Optimized Control Of A Hybrid Electric Vehicle, Thomas P. Harris
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
Continued increases in the emission of greenhouse gases by passenger vehicles has accelerated the production of hybrid electric vehicles. With this increase in production, there has been a parallel demand for continuously improving strategies of hybrid electric vehicle control. The goal of an ideal control strategy is to maximize fuel economy while minimizing emissions. The design and implementation of an optimized control strategy is a complex challenge. Methods exist by which the globally optimal control strategy may be found. However, these methods are not applicable in real-world driving applications since these methods require a priori knowledge of the upcoming drive …
Route Planning For Long-Term Robotics Missions, Christopher Alexander Arend Tatsch
Route Planning For Long-Term Robotics Missions, Christopher Alexander Arend Tatsch
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
Many future robotic applications such as the operation in large uncertain environment depend on a more autonomous robot. The robotics long term autonomy presents challenges on how to plan and schedule goal locations across multiple days of mission duration. This is an NP-hard problem that is infeasible to solve for an optimal solution due to the large number of vertices to visit. In some cases the robot hardware constraints also adds the requirement to return to a charging station multiple times in a long term mission. The uncertainties in the robot model and environment require the robot planner to account …
An Examination To Pathways Powering Car Using Clean Energy, Marina Miranda
An Examination To Pathways Powering Car Using Clean Energy, Marina Miranda
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
Traditional vehicles powered by internal combustion engines contribute significantly to increasing emissions of greenhouses gasses (GHG). There has been increasing interest in powering vehicles using green energy include using electricity produced by wind turbine and solar panel. The green electricity can be used to directly charge the Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), or producing hydrogen as fuel for Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV) by converting electrical energy to hydrogen (H2) through water electrolysis. The low energy density H2 produced can be stored on board as either compressed H2 or liquefied H2.
This research examines the …
Radio Frequency Studies Of Soot Loading And Ammonia Storage On A Diesel Particulate Filter With A Scr Catalyst Coating, Shreyans Sethia
Radio Frequency Studies Of Soot Loading And Ammonia Storage On A Diesel Particulate Filter With A Scr Catalyst Coating, Shreyans Sethia
Dissertations, Master's Theses and Master's Reports
The radio frequency (RF) measurement technique has been shown to be a viable method for measurement of the amount of soot loaded onto DPF’s [1] and the amount of NH3 stored on SCR catalysts [2]. In one of the configurations, a microwave resonant cavity is formed by the metal can encasing the enclosed catalyst. Two metal probes acting as antennas are placed on either side of the catalyst. Power transmitted between the antennas is monitored as the frequency of the signal is swept. At certain frequencies, resonance is achieved. Measurements of the resonance frequencies, amplitude at resonance, and …
Investigation Of Urea Decomposition And Deposit Formation In Diesel Exhaust After-Treatment System, Anand Alembath
Investigation Of Urea Decomposition And Deposit Formation In Diesel Exhaust After-Treatment System, Anand Alembath
Doctoral Dissertations
“Urea-selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system has proved to be an effective solution to reduce NOx emissions in commercial vehicle (CV) diesel engines. A significant challenge in urea injection is to comprehend its decomposition chemistry that leads to formation of undesired deposits in the exhaust system unit. Due to complex interaction of multi-phase fluid flow and transport processes, significant uncertainty is associated with the identification of interacting factors that control the deposit initiation and its growth. To meet the future ultra-low NOx emissions and to deliver ammonia without deposit formation, there is an imminent need to develop the urea-SCR …
Ethical Decision Making Behind The Wheel – A Driving Simulator Study, Siby Samuel, Sarah Yahoodik, Yusuke Yamani, Krishna Valluru, Donald L. Fisher
Ethical Decision Making Behind The Wheel – A Driving Simulator Study, Siby Samuel, Sarah Yahoodik, Yusuke Yamani, Krishna Valluru, Donald L. Fisher
Psychology Faculty Publications
Over the past several years, there has been considerable debate surrounding ethical decision making in situations resulting in inevitable casualties. Given enough time and all other things being equal, studies show that drivers will typically decide to strike the fewest number of pedestrians in scenarios where there is a choice between striking several versus one or no pedestrians. However, it is unclear whether drivers behave similarly under situations of time pressure. In our experiment in a driving simulator, 32 drivers were given up to 2 s to decide which group of pedestrians to avoid among groups of larger (5) or …
The Rise, Fall, And Repair Of Trust For Automated Driving Systems, Scott Mishler, Jing Chen
The Rise, Fall, And Repair Of Trust For Automated Driving Systems, Scott Mishler, Jing Chen
Psychology Faculty Publications
The purpose of this study was to investigate how human driver's trust in the automated driving system is built over time and affected by automation failure. The study expanded trust development over time by measuring trust after a practice demonstration ofthe system capabilities and after each of seven unique, sequential drives. The automation performed perfectly on six of the seven drives but made one of three different responses to a critical hazard event in the fourth drive. Depending on the error-type condition, the automation either perfectly avoided the hazard (no error), issued a takeover request (TOR), or failed to notice …

การรู้จำและการบ่งตัวตนของเสียงสภาพแวดล้อมและเสียงปืน-ปืนใหญ่ ด้วย Mlp Svm และ Dnn, ชินวัฒน์ จัตุรัส
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Impact Of Smart Phones’ Interaction Modality On Driving Performance For Conventional And Autonomous Vehicles, Francesca M. Favarò
Impact Of Smart Phones’ Interaction Modality On Driving Performance For Conventional And Autonomous Vehicles, Francesca M. Favarò
Mineta Transportation Institute
Distracted driving related to cell phone usage ranks among the top three causes of fatal crashes on the road. Although forty-eight of 50 U.S. states allow the use of personal devices if operated hands-free and secured in the vehicle, scientific studies have yet to quantify the safety improvement presumed to be introduced by voice-to-text interactions. Thus, this study investigated how different modes of interaction of drivers with a smart phone (i.e., manual texting vs. vocal input) affect drivers’ distraction and performance in both conventional and semi-autonomous vehicles. The study was executed in a full-car integrated simulator and tested a population …
