This research delves into the design, implementation, and analysis of a controlled experimental framework for photovoltaic cell characterization and its application in spacecraft power systems. Such a system was simulated and validated by benchmarking characteristics of a photovoltaic module and implementing them in a system design simulation yielding performance data for comparative analysis. A hardware setup was developed to perform IV characterization tests under steady state thermal conditions. Experiments conducted across various thermal regulation profiles helped quantify the effects of temperature on the photovoltaic performance parameters. Ethylene is one of the most widely produced petrochemicals, with an estimated global output of 180 million metric tons in 2022. Approximately 82 million metric tons of ethylene are used annually for plastic production, primarily for polyethylene (PE), as well as polypropylene (PP) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The CO₂ emissions associated with PE production were approximately 14 million metric tons in 2022. Globally, an estimated 70 million metric tons of PE are produced and consumed each year, with the majority (~79%) ending up in landfills or the environment.

This research presents the development of a Mixed Reality (MR) robotic framework that integrates real and virtual environments for experimental robotics, education, and visualization. The proposed system combines a motion-capture system, a simulator, and a projector to create a spatially aligned, interactive workspace where physical robots coexist with projected virtual objects. This thesis aimed to model a rotor supported by an active magnetic bearing (AMB). The magnetic force equation due to a single electromagnet was first derived which served as the basis of AMB modeling. This study investigates the performance of composite brake pads made of Ulin (Eusideroxylon zwageri) sawdust using simulation modeling, focusing on the pressure distribution, frictional stress, and contact state in five brake pad designs (DS0 to DS4). The brake pad designs used U-shaped grooves to improve cooling efficiency and debris removal. The results show that DS1 and DS2 exhibit the most uniform pressure distribution, with maximum values of 0.045 MPa and 0.048 MPa, respectively. DS1 recorded the highest peak frictional stress at 2.53 × 10-8 MPa, while DS2 showed consistent stress stability, reducing the possibility of uneven wear. DS3 achieved a …

Laminar flame codes have an important role in combustion modeling. They can provide a fundamental understanding of flame dynamics and provide a basis for building subgrid scale models in turbulent flow simulations. This paper presents Ignis, an open-source laminar flame code with the capability to offload submodels, like soot formation and radiation, using external packages and libraries. Tactile exhibits are common in museums and on the walls of university halls. However, few (if any) tools exist for creating tactile exhibits for teaching digital logic or computing concepts. This project implemented a framework for creating tactile digital logic simulation exhibits, with a focus on rapid prototyping and distributed architecture. This preliminary study explores statistical prediction of the lifetimes of apparently stable orbits of three particle masses, mutually attracted by gravity in the planar three body problem. Most orbits eventually break up, commonly in an end state with two of the bodies orbiting each other and moving together in one direction, with the third body moving in the opposite direction. Studies of such escape events led to a novel hypothesis, emerging from the intersection of probability, statistics, chaos, and fractal art. Refractory high entropy alloys (RHEAs) are advanced metals made up of five or more principal elements in roughly equal amounts. The microstructural effects of alloying with yttrium as a principal element for RHEAs are currently not well understood. This project compared RHEA microstructures from literature with simulations using the High Entropy Alloy Predicting Software (HEAPS), which computes 10 screening criteria to predict the microstructure of a RHEA composition. The accuracy of HEAPS predictions was assessed by comparing them with experimentally validated microstructures found in literature. Emergency responders need to arrive at the emergency scene as soon as possible, but operating vehicles under emergency conditions can pose a risk to both the responders and other road users, potentially resulting in crashes or delays in emergency operations. In this research, an emergency response system is proposed to assist emergency and non-emergency response vehicles (ERVs and non-ERVs) during emergency operations in a connected vehicle environment.
