A New Creep-Fatigue Life Prediction Model, Tarun Goswami
Biomedical, Industrial & Human Factors Engineering Faculty Publications
A published creep-fatigue life prediction model is modified in this paper and assessed with data on Inconel 718 under different test conditions. It has been shown that the method developed within the viscosity concepts correlates the low-cycle fatigue data well. This paper reports the modification over the previous model.

Meniscus shapes from a simulation of a plate immersing into an infinitely deep liquid bath, for a range of outer length scales, have been obtained numerically. These have been compared with the leading‐order prediction from a three‐region asymptotic analysis done in the double limit, Capillary number, Ca→0, LS/LC→0, with Ca ln(LC/LS) of O(1), where LS and LC represent the slip length and an outer macroscopic length, respectively. For Ca<0.01, the numerically computed and the perturbation solutions show excellent agreement. Within this range of Ca, the meniscus slope at a distance 10LS from the dynamic contact line is geometry independent, that is, does not vary with changes …0.01,>

Agenda: Sustainable Use Of The West's Water, University Of Colorado Boulder. Natural Resources Law Center
Sustainable Use of the West's Water (Summer Conference, June 12-14)
Conference organizers and/or faculty included University of Colorado School of Law professors David H. Getches, Lawrence J. MacDonnell, Teresa A. Rice, Elizabeth A. Rieke and Charles F. Wilkinson.
Sustainable development is on the policy agenda for the '90s. What does sustainability mean? Is it a realistic concept? Are water rights compatible with sustainable use? The Center's 16th annual summer conference will explore the meaning of sustainability in the context of the West's demands, development, and natural values. Presentations by leading experts will address the broad concept of sustainable development, with a particular look at Arizona's experience. The focus will be …

Techniques To Improve Electron Density Measurements In The D Region Of The Ionosphere, Earl F. Pound
Techniques To Improve Electron Density Measurements In The D Region Of The Ionosphere, Earl F. Pound
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
The electron density of the ionosphere can be measured using rocket-borne probes that measure changes of the impedance of an antenna as it traverses the plasma. The resistive component of the antenna impedance is difficult to measure accurately in the D region of the ionosphere (50-90 km) because it has such a small value and is in series with a much larger capacitive reactance. The resistance term is squared during data analysis and this further adds to the inaccuracy. Previous data analysis has usually ignored the resistive term and led to errors of as much as 35% for the altitude …

Applicability Of Modified Diercks Equation With Nrim Data, Tarun Goswami
Applicability Of Modified Diercks Equation With Nrim Data, Tarun Goswami
Biomedical, Industrial & Human Factors Engineering Faculty Publications
The applicability of the modified Diercks equation (MDE) was assessed with elevated temperature low cycle fatigue (ETLCF) data generated by the National Research Institute for Metals (NRIM) for lCr-Mo-V, 1.25Cr-Mo, 2.25Cr-Mo and 9Cr-lMo steels respectively. The modified Diercks equation was assessed with data generated with symmetrical, slow-fast and hold-time waveforms for low alloy steels. The following characteristics were observed: Symmetrical waveforms: Five strain rates were used with these waveforms where predicted life was by a factor of ± x2 for 77%, 87%, 82% and 92% of data points for lCr-Mo-V, 1.25Cr-Mo, 2.25Cr-Mo and 9CrlMo steels respectively. Slow-fast waveforms: Diercks equation …
