Monetizing Social Life Cycle Assessment (Slca): A Case Study In Smes Tapioca Industry In Lampung, Indonesia, Yosep -, Unang Mulkhan, Udin Hasanudin, Dewi Agustina Iryani

Applied Environmental Research

To verify the responsible and sustainable functioning of circular economy (CE), assessing the sustainability of CE methods is essential. The consistent absence of a social aspect within the CE has been a recurring topic in research. This paper aims to pinpoint social-benefit aspects that are quantifiable in monetary values and investigate how attributing monetary significance to these elements can enhance the evaluation of social sustainability, leading to more informed decision-making processes. The methodology involves both quantitative and qualitative research methods. A quantitative research study was initiated in February 2023. Two approaches were used for sample selection. First, a case study …

The Influence Of Chemical Fertilizers On The Effectiveness Of Biochar In Mitigating Cadmium Mobility In Soil, Chompoonut Chaiyaraksa, Navapat Sangworn

Applied Environmental Research

The focus of this study was to explore how various fertilizers influence the movement of cadmium in soil treated with biochar. The research utilized a strong acid sandy loam soil from Chanthaburi Province, naturally rich in organic matter with moderate cation exchange capacity and low nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, sulfate, salinity and chloride levels. The soil was purposely contaminated with 50 mg kg-1 of cadmium and treated with biochar derived from water hyacinth through pyrolysis at 450°C for an hour. This biochar displayed moderate alkalinity, high organic matter, phosphorus, potassium, and cation exchange capacity, but low nitrogen content. Analytical techniques like …

Use Of Modified Blast Furnace Slag For Cadmium Removal In An Aqueous Medium, Toufik Chouchane, Mohamed Tayeb Abedghars, Sabiha Chouchane, Hazem Meradi, Atmane Boukari

Applied Environmental Research

In this work, blast furnace slag was converted to hydroxyapatite-zeolite (MS) through alkaline fusion and hydrothermal treatment, and then it was used to remove cadmium in solution by adsorption in batch mode. The process was accomplished under the influence of determining parameters, namely the contact time, mass of the adsorbent, stirring speed, pH of the medium, temperature of the solution, particle size of the slag, and initial concentration. MS consists mainly of sodium oxide, silica, alumina, lime, and phosphorus pentoxide. The Ca/P, Na/Al, and Si/Al ratios revealed that the converted slag is a hydroxyapatite-zeolite. Following the modification of the treated …

The platform is designed to assist in computing these indicators, which requires diverse data inputs and complex interrelated equations. The …

Implementing The Circular Economy Concept In Construction Supply Chain Management Of Modular Steel Projects, Thet Htar San Jan 2023

Implementing The Circular Economy Concept In Construction Supply Chain Management Of Modular Steel Projects, Thet Htar San

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

The circular economy is a modern economic model where the value of products, materials, and resources is maintained in the economy as long as possible, whereas the generation of waste is minimized. The current linear take-make-dispose model prevalent in construction supply chain management is increasingly unsustainable, marked by significant resource wastage and environmental impacts. The conventional linear supply chain models in modular steel construction contribute to unsustainable resource utilization and environmental impacts. This research explores the transition from linear to circular supply chain models. We identify key actors, potential barriers, and opportunities for implementing circular economy practices in modular steel …
