Effect Of Nano Cdo-Zno Content On Structural, Thermal, Optical, Mechanical And Electrical Properties Of Epoxy Composites, Chaitra Srikanth, Gattumane Motappa Madhu

Journal of Metals, Materials and Minerals

Cadmium oxide doped zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by solution combustion technique. CdO-ZnO nanoparticles were reinforced into epoxy by ultrasonication technique. CdO-ZnO nano-particles are well known semiconducting materials which are found to exhibit excellent semiconducting behavior even at high frequencies. Hence it was introduced into epoxy to study the semiconducting nature of CdO-ZnO/epoxy composites. The polymer composites exhibited interesting phenomenon such as minimum heat losses at high frequencies indicating semi-conducting behaviour of the composites. The polymer composite was also analysed for its structural, thermal, optical and mechanical properties. The enhanced interaction of CdO-ZnO nanoparticles with epoxy has resulted in superior …

Fabrication And Characterizations Of High Density Si3 N4 - Zro2 Ceramics, Kamol Traipanya, Thanakorn Wasanapiarnpong, Charusporn Mongkolkachit

Journal of Metals, Materials and Minerals

Silicon nitride and zirconia were mixed with SiO2, MgO, Y2O3 as sintering additives and pressureless sintered at 1650℃ in N2 atmosphere for 2 h. The XRD results showed a-Si3N4 was partially transformed to b-Si3N4 with 3:3:5 weight ratio of SiO2 : MgO : Y2O3. However, at 5 wt% of ZrO2 addition promoted phase transformation of a-Si3N4 to b-Si3N4 while 35 wt% of ZrO2 completely transformed to b-Si3N4 phase. Si3N4 has a lower density than ZrO2, bulk density of samples increases in correlation with the amount of ZrO2. Because there was no difference in hardness and flexural strength between sintered Si3N4 …

Four metallic salt mordants, namely (NH4)2Fe(SO4)2, CuSO4, SnCl2, and AlK(SO4)2, referred to as Fe, Cu, Sn, and Al, respectively, were used to improve the dyeing properties. The influences of the pH, dye concentration, mordant type and concentration, and mordanting technique on the dyeing properties were investigated. Dyeing without mordants resulted in a reddish-brown fabric; however, different mordants produced a variety of color shades. In general, the mordant containing Fe yielded the highest color strength, generating a dark gray color very close to black. …

Journal of Metals, Materials and Minerals

We perform calculations of the adsorption energy of O2, CO2, and NO2 molecules on germanene by using the density functional theory (DFT). We find two favorable configurations for O2, the U-site and V-site configurations with similar adsorption energies of -4.10 and -4.32 eV. As for NO2, we find two favorable configurations, the T-site and DB-site configurations. The T-site configuration is 0.98 eV more stable than the IB-site one, and both configurations are chemically adsorbed by germanene. On the contrary for CO2, we find a T-site configuration with adsorption energy of 0.42 eV and the configuration physically adsorbed by germanene.

The purpose of this work is to study the methyl orange removal of Ni(OH)2 nanoparticles. The photo-catalyst activity is investigated based on UV lamp of 18 watt. Ni(OH)2 is synthesized by a self-assembly process and then exposed to electron beam radiation at 10 MeV energy with various doses ranging from 50 kGy to 500 kGy. The properties of Ni(OH)2 nanoparticles are then evaluated. No significant change of functional group and percent of crystallinity are observed. The morphology is uniformly presented as a plate-like. The specific surface area, pore size and pore volume are reduced. Point of zero charge confirmed that …
