Thermaltrack Dataset - Training Labels - Sequence 1-11, Yiming Yang, Jeremy P. Bos

ThermalTrack

We present a wheel track detection system that leverages RGB-Thermal (RGB-T) imaging, where thermal channels reveal critical temperature differentials between compacted tracks and loose snow - tracks exhibit higher thermal inertia and lower reflectivity, emitting stronger radiation signatures even in visually homogeneous conditions. By fusing these distinctive thermal patterns with RGB spatial information, our method reliably identifies navigable tracks, enabling robust path-following in complete white-out conditions where snow textures and terrain features become indistinguishable.

3d Printed Living Hinges In Deployable Origami Structures, Davis Wing, Robert J. Lang, Spencer Magleby, Larry Howell

Student Works

Origami-based geometries are often difficult to prototype and construct. Although methods exist for creating surrogate folds in many materials, doing so often requires multiple manufacturing steps. While engineers studying foldable models can use single-material additive manufacturing to construct living hinges in their models, current techniques are limited. We present an approach for generating living hinges in stowed, deployable mechanisms using single-material 3D printing. This approach enables new models to be constructed with accurate geometry and kinematics in a single print and with no further manufacturing necessary beyond an initial folding step. Additionally, by printing deployable structures in their stowed form, …

Gene Expression Analysis Reveals Dysregulation In Traumatic Brain Injury Leading To Tauopathy, Kristina M. Tosi

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) causes a cascade of detrimental events within neurons, contributing to a host of neurological diseases relating to dementia. In this study we have performed a meta-analysis comparing differentially expressed genes (DEG) in specific cell types such as neurons and microglia revealing inflammation as a common driver of neurological deficiencies post TBI. Inflammation and hypoxia are well characterized features of TBI; however, the molecular mechanisms causing tau hyperphosphorylation by tauopathy associated genes (TAG) post-TBI are currently poorly understood. Furthermore, there are limited in-vitro neuroinflammatory models that mimic primary and secondary TBI. We hypothesize that inducing hypoxia and …

Tuning Polymer Glass Formation Behavior And Understanding Time-Temperature Superposition Breakdown With Oligomeric Additives, Peijing Yue

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

The glass transition of polymer melts has been investigated for over a century. Even so, there are still many unanswered questions about the underlying physics. Countless theories were proposed to explain and define glass transition temperatures. More specifically, both the origins of the glass transition and underlying classification of glass as a state of matter remain unresolved. Time-temperature superposition (TTS) is one of the most widely used techniques to characterize the viscoelastic behavior of a material and the mechanical behavior and is employed to reduce the measuring time during characterization. Despite the widespread use of TTS, many authors have reported …

The Role Of Spontaneous Activity In Maturation Of The Calyx Of Held Nerve Terminal And Its Synaptic Target In The Medial Nucleus Of The Trapezoid Body, Daniel Tatsuo Heller Jun 2024

The Role Of Spontaneous Activity In Maturation Of The Calyx Of Held Nerve Terminal And Its Synaptic Target In The Medial Nucleus Of The Trapezoid Body, Daniel Tatsuo Heller

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Neural circuit formation is a complex process involving synergistic roles between neurons and glial cells regulated by coordinated genetic and molecular cues and activity-dependent mechanisms. The canonical pathway for synapse formation begins with neurogenesis and migration followed by axonal outgrowth and dendritic arborization allowing for the capture and formation of nascent synapses. These initial synaptic contacts are exuberant in nature ensuring proper neural connectivity and undergo a period of pruning of superfluous inputs followed by maturation and strengthening of the remaining contacts. This maturation includes pre- and postsynaptic specialization of the active zone, localization and clustering of ion channels, and …
