Objective To achieve safe and efficient hydraulic fracturing, it is necessary to conduct timely and accurate microseismic monitoring in the reservoir stimulation process. The purpose is to analyze and assess the fracturing effects. Methods Using a permanently deployed fiber-optic cable outside the casing of a coalbed methane (CBM) well, this study employed distributed optical fiber acoustic sensing (DAS)for full-borehole, wide-azimuth, and high-density real-time monitoring of microseismic events induced by the hydraulic fracturing of coal seams. Predicting and controlling ground vibrations from blasting is crucial for protecting structures and minimizing environmental impacts. This study investigates how explosive quantity and scaled distances affect peak particle velocity and establishes empirical equations to estimate this velocity at different distances from the blast area. The study found that the maximum charge per delay at a peak particle velocity of 10 mm/s was reduced to 13.46% as the delay timing was increased from 0 to 25 ms and 9.99% from 0 to 50 ms delay timing. The useful life of dump truck tyres is crucial for optimising economic efficiency and safety in mining operations. This study employs advanced hybrid models, including a generalised regression neural network (GRNN) combined with an artificial bee colony (ABC), ant colony optimisation (ACO), and firefly algorithm (FA), to predict tyre life at Perseus Mining Ghana Limited to enhance prediction accuracy. Sensitivity analysis using simple linear regression (SLR) identified tread depth as the most influential factor, with a correlation coefficient of 0.9638. The 2017–2018 eruption of Ambae volcano provided a rare opportunity to investigate gas emissions during a sub-Plinian basaltic eruption. Here we document the gas emissions during this eruption using satellite observation, alongside gas measurements and geochemical analyses. Our results indicate that the volcano released 3.3 teragrams of sulfur dioxide, 7.7 of carbon dioxide, 134 of water vapour, 0.2 of hydrogen sulfide, and 0,001 of dihydrogen, ranking Ambae among the world’s top volcanic gas emitters. Despite these substantial emissions, the relatively modest volume of 0.47 cubic kilometer of magma that fueled the eruption indicates a volatile-rich magma source. This enrichment is …

In the long-term accumulation process, coal gangue can lead to severe consequences such as spontaneous combustion and explosions due to external factors. Additionally, the coal gangue that ignites spontaneously significantly pollutes the land and groundwater, causing serious risks to the health and safety of individuals living and working in the vicinity. The mechanized longwall top-coal caving technology (LTCC) has been used in Quang Ninh underground coal mines owned by Vietnam National Coal – Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin). This study examined the electro dissolution mechanism of five impure sphalerite samples, which differ significantly in purity levels, along with their partially oxidized counterparts in a 0.5 M H2SO4. Partially oxidized samples were prepared through an incomplete leaching of sphalerite using H2SO4 with Fe2(SO4)3.H2O as an oxidizing agent. The original sphalerite samples and the partially oxidized samples were referred to as SP and POS samples, respectively.
