First-Principles Study On Structural And Electronic Properties Of P3ht-Graphene, Fia Amalia, Ari Dwi Nugraheni, Sholihun Sholihun
Journal of Metals, Materials and Minerals
Based on density functional theory, calculations have been carried out to study the structural and electronic properties of the polymer Poly (3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) interacting with monolayer graphene as an active layer. (P3HT)1-graphene and (P3HT)2-graphene are optimized on graphene using the generalized-gradient-approximation type of the exchange-correlation functional. Adsorption energy, band gap, and charge transfer are calculated. The calculated adsorption energy shows that all systems have negative adsorption energy, indicating that the reaction is exothermic. Compared to (P3HT)1-graphene, (P3HT)2-graphene has a lower band gap. As for the charge transfer calculation, a negative ΔN indicates that electron transfers from P3HT to graphene.

Vibration absorption of the Ti-6Al-4V alloy fabricated by laser powder bed fusion additive manufacturing (LPBF-AM) was evaluated following as-built and post-heat treatment (i.e., solution treatment followed by water quenching). The base plate was heated at 50°C or 200°C during building. Results showed that the vibration absorption of the as-built Ti-6Al-4V alloy was higher when the base plate was heated at 50°C than at 200°C. Further, the vibration absorption indicated strong anisotropy, with the highest vibration absorption in the direction perpendicular to the building direction and transverse to the laser scanning direction. However, after solution treatment followed by water quenching, the …

Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanopowders have been widely applied in electronics, optics and photocatalytic applications depending on their morphological structure. In the bottom-up process, it is conceived that the different zinc precursors may result in different formations of ZnO nanostructures with exceptional morphology. This work focuses on ZnO material synthesized via the facile sol-gel synthesis using different zinc slat precursors, including zinc acetate, zinc nitrate, zinc sulphate, and zinc chloride. All zinc salt precursors were incorporated with sodium hydroxide and hexamethylenetetramine (HMTA) under mild thermal energy with consistent conditions to investigate ZnO formation. The as-prepared samples appeared in white powders with …

Magnesium-zinc alloys offer promising lightweight properties but are prone to oxidation during high-temperature processing and usage. In this study, the oxidation behavior of Mg-Zn alloy was examined according to the inert gas type flow rate, heating rate and alloy amount. Initially, alloys were produced by adding zinc at weight percentages of 0.5%, 1.5%, and 2% using the casting method. The alloys were characterized using X-ray fluorescence (XRF), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscope (SEM) analyses, revealing the formation of dendritic Mg-Zn intermetallic within the alloy. The oxidation behavior of these alloys was examined via differential thermal analysis (DTA) and …

The increasing concern over environmental pollution, particularly from nitrogen dioxide (NO2) emissions, necessitates the development of efficient NO2 detection sensors. This study introduces reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/ZrO2 hybrids for enhanced NO2 gas sensing. Utilizing a modified Hummer’s method, graphene oxide (GO) flakes were synthesized and subsequently sputtered with 10 nm ZrO2 film, followed by thermal annealing to produce rGO/ZrO2 hybrids. The hybrids were characterized using various techniques including SEM, TEM, AFM, Raman spectroscopy, and XRD, confirming successful synthesis and reduction of GO, as well as the formation of ZrO2 nanoparticles. Gas sensing tests revealed superior sensitivity to NO2 in the …

The AlCoCrFeMo0.05Ni2 high entropy alloy (HEA) can remarkably enhance its ductility through high-temperature annealing. Nevertheless, the underlying mechanism remains under explored. Herein, we utilized molecular dynamics simulations (MD) to calculate the generalized stacking fault energy (GSFE) curves and uniaxial tensile behavior. Notably, the twin inclination of the FCC phase increases significantly after annealing. During plastic deformation, the FCC phase in the annealed alloy exhibits a substantially higher formation of twinning and stacking faults compared to the as-cast alloy. This increased twin inclination after annealing is the fundamental mechanism contributing to the enhancement of high-temperature ductility.
