Flexural Behavior Of Thermoplastic Beams With And Without Frp Reinforcement, Hilmi Coskun

This thesis presents the results of an experimental and theoretical study of the flexural behavior of thermoplastic beams with and without fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) rebars. Tests are conducted on commercially available thermoplastic beams known as Seatimber. The normal stress-strain relations of both the thermoplastic material and FRP rebars are obtained in tension and compression experimentally. These mechanical property curves are then used as part of the input for developing the theoretical moment-curvature relations using an iterative equilibrium procedure. The moment-curvature relations are in turn used for predicting the beam load-deflection curves via the central finite-difference procedure. Behavior predictions are made …

During the month of October, November, and December 1996, a Cultural Resources Investigation was conducted on two Louisiana-Pacific Corporation parcels located at Big Lagoon, Humboldt County, California (see Map 1). The survey was requested by Jamie Heltsley of Ron Hunt Surveying & Forestry, Arcata, California. Proposed project plans include the combining of four separate assessors parcels into two assessor's parcels.

The prediction of the energy used by a building's systems and occupants, for different design options and combinations, is an important part of the design of an energy efficient building.

Maintenance conditions and occupant behavior towards maintenance in government housing in developing countries are universal problems. Perceptions, construction technology, competencies, tenureship, cultural tradition, and demographic factors have been identified as major constraints influencing housing maintenance behavior. There was a need for this study because limited literature exists on maintenance of urban government provided housing in Nigeria. An eighteen month study of the Toyota Motor Manufacturing (TMM) plant site and the surrounding area was undertaken. The basic charge for this project was to characterize the groundwater that is potentially impacted by the TMM plant site. This included occurrence, flow direction, and, if possible, velocity. Because the area is karstified (has sinkholes, springs, caves, etc.) surface water and groundwater are intimately connected and, hence, surface water was frequently an important component of this work.
Data from TMM construction plans and monitoring work done subsequent to construction were elicited from the various repositories within the TMM infrastructure. Aerial color …
