Epoxy-Terminated Self-Assembled Monolayers As Molecular Glues For Polymer Layers, Duangrut Julthongpiput

Dense, homogeneous, and complete self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) with epoxy surface groups were fabricated from epoxysilanes to serve as a template for chemical anchoring of polymer layers. A combination of scanning probe microscopy, ellipsometry, XPS, X-ray reflectivity, and contact angle measurements was used to study their morphology and surface properties. Self-assembly of epoxysilane molecules resulted in the formation of homogeneous SAMs 0.85 nm thick with the rms surface roughness 0.2 nm. Epoxysilane SAMs were truly monomolecular films with a virtually normal molecular orientation of densely packed molecules, which were firmly attached to the substrate.

Economy in formwork design depends partly on the ingenuity and experiences of the form designer, whether a contractor or an engineer. The cost of formwork is significant, generally amounting to anywhere from 40% to 60% of the cost of a concrete structure. Judgment with respect to the development of a forming system could both expedite a project and reduce costs. Principles of surface science and engineering are applied to determine scanned probe microscope cantilever spring constants. The bi-component gold-ceramic cantilever composition is modeled analytically. Finite element analysis is applied to simulate deflection behavior of the probe tip. Data from experimental determination of resonant frequency are employed to infer material characteristics. Combination of the results from these three procedures is employed to infer material characteristics. Combination of the results from these three procedures is used to produce a spring constant assessment within 10% of actual values. Most of these software tools are for crane model selection and query the user for the type of crane to be used. The United States Air Force (USAF) has outsourced a significant portion of their activities defined as commercial activities and plans to aggressively outsource more in the future. The USAF outsources its commercial activities in the form of multi-year contracts to the private sector. Cost growth (either negative or positive) has been experienced by most of these contracts. Air Force members have three different housing choices: live in MFH, rent in the local community, or buy a house in the local community. A set of six constructs (Housing Attributes, Safety, Pet Importance, Location, Military Housing Perception, and Community) that encompass members' considerations is developed and analyzed. The data was extracted from a survey that was specifically designed to illicit the relative importance of each construct during the housing decision making process. The purpose of this study was to determine the attitude of Taiwanese construction companies regarding the adoption and implementation of ISO 9000. This was accomplished by conducting a survey to investigate the perceived factors affecting the intention to adopt ISO 9000 and its successful implementation.
The survey instrument was developed through the review of related literature as well as through validations. One hundred eighty (180) construction companies were randomly sampled from the 1998 Membership Directory of the National Construction Association of the Republic of China (Taiwan), which consisted of 60 Type-A, Type-B, and Type-C construction companies. This report was prepared on behalf of the Construction Industry Federation as Ireland’s initial contribution to the Leonardo da Vinci Project: Euroconstruction.
The report is divided into 3 sections.
Section 1 concentrates on the recent and likely future changes in the structure of the Irish construction market and the impact of these changes on project management and project financing. The recent growth of the industry is documented and predictions for the future of the industry in Ireland are summarised.
