Effect Of Temperature On Performance Of Crack Repair Materials On Rendered Walls, Pattharadej Sansara
Effect Of Temperature On Performance Of Crack Repair Materials On Rendered Walls, Pattharadej Sansara
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Cracking on wall surfaces, especially exterior rendered walls, is frequently found. Hence, whenever cracks initiate, it is unavoidable to repair such crack even though it may not be attributed to structural issues, but it may be the ingress of water to infiltrate into the wall. However, even though these fine cracks are sealed with some repair materials, re-cracking still occurs. One factor that causes such failure is temperature. Therefore, this thesis focuses on how temperature influences the performance of crack repair materials since temperature can cause the crack movement and make the repair materials fail subsequently. Moreover, crack movement has …

Impact Of Drainage Problem On Dynamic Behavior Of Ballasted Track-Bridge Structure, Ratabhat Wangtawesap
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Recently, the railway industry has favored expanding its network through the widespread use of ballasted tracks due to their cost-effectiveness and ease of construction. However, rising global temperatures have led to more unpredictable weather and increased rainfall, causing drainage issues in Thai railway bridges. The dynamic properties of ballast significantly influence the safety and performance of these railway systems. By conducting experiments on submerged ballast layers and integrating this data as a variable parameter in an optimization process, the research identifies diverse ballast properties under varying drainage conditions and use these properties to develops a numerical model for train-ballasted track-bridge …

Exploring Job Burnout And Engagement Amongst Construction Managers In Thailand: A Cross-Sectional Study Using Structural Equation Modelling, Thinley Lhendup
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Studies of job burnout have gained appreciable momentum within the construction industry in the past few decades, however literature incorporating the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) is still sparse. Furthermore, a single piece of literature can be traced that utilized the six Areas of Worklife Survey (AWS) as an independent variable influencing burnout among construction professionals. This study proposed a hypothetical model in which Areas of Worklife potentially contribute to Job Burnout/Engagement among construction professionals in Thailand and explored the consequential relationships between perceived Job Performance and Turnover Intentions. Cross-Sectional data was explored using an online questionnaire survey, and Structural Equation …
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Development Of Practical Assessment Techniques For Sinkhole Potential In Florida Based On Sinkhole Vulnerability Indices, Sylvia Pesha
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Sinkholes are natural geohazards prevalent in Florida's distinctive karst geology, posing risks to public safety, infrastructure, and groundwater integrity. Considering the increasing frequency of sinkhole occurrences in Florida due to land development in vulnerable soils, understanding the potential for sinkhole occurrence can aid in the identification of high-risk locations and inform effective mitigation strategies. Researchers have developed three point-based indices to be used when assessing the vulnerability a project site has to sinkhole formation based on the encountered subsurface conditions. Engineers have historically used an index based on the subsurface layer thicknesses, called the Raveling Index (RI). In recent years, …

Analysis Of Underwater Noise Due To Pile Driving In Florida Using Individual Hammer Blows, Consolatha Constantine Mushi
UNF Graduate Theses and Dissertations
In recent years, the potential impact on marine organisms of sound waves generated by pile driving has become a growing concern. Previous research in this field has predominantly relied upon single-strike averages to analyze underwater sound data. However, it was unclear from these analyses if or how much attenuation may vary during typical pile drives. This study involved collecting sound data from multiple locations during a given pile driving operation at the same time and used these data to analyze sound decay from each hammer blow individually. In addition to this, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was used to better understand …

Feasibility Of Applying Motion Magnification In Subsurface Defect Detection For Concrete And Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Specimens, Nagavardhani Malineni
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
Irrespective of size and complexity, every civil infrastructure needs certain scrutiny regarding its structural health to ensure its serviceability during its lifetime. In olden times such scrutiny was done with the aid of destructive testing methods using sensors that required cumbersome and expensive installations and led to the destruction of at least part of the tested specimen. However, in recent times, many non-destructive methods, such as acoustic emission testing, electromagnetic testing, and laser testing methods have emerged, leaving the specified tested specimen undisturbed. With the advancement in sensor technology like motion magnification and with the help of access to high-speed …

Using Modflow To Assess Groundwater Storage Enhancement Via A Floodplain Infiltration Basin, Lindsay Henning
Using Modflow To Assess Groundwater Storage Enhancement Via A Floodplain Infiltration Basin, Lindsay Henning
All Master's Theses
Delaying groundwater discharge into rivers until it is critically needed during baseflow conditions provides promise for lowering elevated stream temperatures and improving habitat for aquatic species. Increasing groundwater storage may accomplish this in locations where excess spring runoff can be captured and allowed to infiltrate into the subsurface for later beneficial use, a process known as Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR). Here, MAR via an infiltration basin is considered at a site along the Teanaway River in central Washington State. The effects of simulated ephemeral ponds of sizes varying from 554 m3 to 2430 m3 (0.449 acre-feet to 1.97 …
