Bridging Worlds: Cultivating Cultural Intelligence For Transformative English Classrooms, Alvaro R. Larrea Salazar
Senior Honors Theses
This project explores the integration of the Cultural Intelligence (CQ) framework in the secondary English classroom to enhance inclusivity and classroom dynamics. It argues that by understanding and adapting to diverse cultural contexts, teachers can create a more inclusive and welcoming environment, improve teacher-student relationships, and facilitate more effective classroom management. Through a focus on lesson planning, discussion, and overall instruction, this thesis aims to show how CQ can enrich literature studies and foster cultural awareness among students. Drawing on existing research, it demonstrates that a high CQ in educators is linked to transformational leadership and positive student outcomes, ultimately …
An Auto-Criticism: Exploration Of Professional Development For Secondary Science Educators, Mellissa Ann Pfaff
An Auto-Criticism: Exploration Of Professional Development For Secondary Science Educators, Mellissa Ann Pfaff
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This auto-criticism investigates the benefits of experiential professional development for science educators by examining the reflective journey of one teacher-researcher—me—through multiple immersive learning experiences. Using narrative journaling and qualitative analysis, this study captures the influence of these experiences on my identity, instructional design, and ability to create experiential learning opportunities for students.
Rather than approaching professional development as a checklist of strategies, this research seeks to illuminate how deeply engaged, hands-on learning can transform teaching from routine delivery to embodied practice. Thematic coding revealed shifts in curriculum planning, increased responsiveness to student inquiry, and renewed clarity around the purpose of …

Jurnal Pendidikan: Teori, Penelitian, dan Pengembangan
The declining trend of Indonesian students' literacy competence has prompted researchers to examine how teachers' Dexiotita (competence) fosters literacy ecosystems within educational institutions. This inquiry also explores the relationship between students' Dexiotita (competence) literacy and teachers' Dexiotita (competence). A descriptive qualitative method, employing a case study approach, was utilized to examine phenomena in three schools located in the Kupang district of East Kupang sub-district. These schools were selected based on their representation of a diverse sample, with three schools each having a principal, 18 classroom teachers, and 225 students. The data collection process involved interviews, observations, and documentation, with the data …

Shared Voices: How Pk-16 Leaders Perceive School University Partnership Alignment With Caep Standards, Ann-Marie Hancock
Doctoral Dissertations
This mixed-methods study examined PK–16 leaders’ perspectives regarding the alignment of an educator preparation provider (EPP) with the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) Standards 2 (Clinical Partnerships and Practice) and 5 (Quality Assurance System and Continuous Improvement). Data were collected through a researcher-designed survey and semi-structured interviews with principals, district administrators, and university leaders. Survey results provided descriptive insights into stakeholder perceptions, while interviews offered deeper contextual understanding of the strengths and challenges within school–university partnerships. Findings indicated that leaders valued residency programs and recruitment pipelines as key strengths, highlighting the mutual benefits of sustained clinical partnerships. …

A Collaboration: Exploring, Discussing, And Practicing The Pause, Lisa Devall-Martin, Michelle C. Hughes
International Christian Community of Teacher Educators Journal
The act of intentionally pausing becomes not only a teaching strategy but a spiritual practice, reminding us that God meets us in the in-between spaces of chaos and calm; this explicit method of pausing for even the smallest moment of time gives educators space for reflection and reaps fruit with intentional pause and reflection on teaching dispositions. This essay, written as a dual autoethnographic reflection, explores the development of collaborative workshops two professors held over two years, which invited pre-service teachers to cultivate dispositions of empathy, adaptability, gratitude, and hope through creative pausing. Through stories and those of the professors' …
Faith, Justice, And Language: Equipping Christian Teachers For Linguistically Sustaining Pedagogies, Grace Inae Blum
Faith, Justice, And Language: Equipping Christian Teachers For Linguistically Sustaining Pedagogies, Grace Inae Blum
International Christian Community of Teacher Educators Journal
This essay argues that Christian teacher educators must integrate linguistically sustaining pedagogies into teacher preparation as a faithful response to God’s call to justice, love, and hospitality. In classrooms shaped by increasing linguistic diversity, these practices move beyond accommodating multilingual learners to affirming and sustaining their linguistic and cultural identities. The essay begins by clarifying key concepts (Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy, Linguistically Responsive Teaching, and Translanguaging) and exploring their intersections with faith-based commitments. It then presents a theological rationale rooted in Scripture, emphasizing diversity as part of God’s design, justice as a biblical mandate, and love as a guiding ethic. Finally, …

Universal Design For Learning: Practical Implications For Christian Educators, Hannah S. Kennedy, Kate Scarborough, Bryan Gill, Lisa L. Beckham
International Christian Community of Teacher Educators Journal
The Universal Design for Learning framework, designed by David Rose and Anne Meyer (2002) is an evidence-based approach to teaching that proactively targets learner variability and meets the unique needs of all students in the classroom. This framework aligns with our faith-based mission as we are called to the Christ centered belief that all people were made in the image of God. The three guiding principles of Universal Design for Learning are: multiple means of representation, multiple means of engagement, and multiple means of action/expression. By adopting the principles of universal design for learning, educators can proactively plan, implement, and …

Development Of Artificial Intelligence-Based Learning Media Using Powtoon Animation With A Joyful Learning Approach To Support Ppl Activities For Pre-Service Ppg Students, Zihan Novita Sari, Evania Yafie, Muhammad Alfan, Qorry Armen Gemael, Paundra Wangsa Fajar Kusuma
Jurnal Pendidikan: Teori, Penelitian, dan Pengembangan
Although Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to create adaptive and engaging instructional media, its application in the teaching practicum of pre-service teacher education students remains suboptimal. During field teaching practice, most pre-service teachers still rely on conventional methods and non-interactive media, resulting in learning that is teacher-centered, less engaging, and unable to accommodate diverse student needs. This condition leads to limited student participation, low classroom interaction, and ineffective delivery of material. Therefore, the development of AI-based learning media is necessary to support more interactive, personalized, and meaningful teaching practices aligned with 21st-century learning demands. This study aims to develop …

A Qualitative Analysis Of Educator Well-Being Through Teaching Sel: A Classroom Pilot, Laticia Follansbee, Madison Reid Reid, Chanda Murphy, Allison Henry
River Cities Industrial and Organizational Psychology Conference
Early childhood educators are expected to teach social emotional learning (SEL) in their classrooms, while educators themselves are in need of SEL as much as their students due to stress and burnout in this occupation being at an all-time high. We ran a small pilot study of a mindfulness, audio-based SEL tool (Moshi) to see whether brief daily use leads to easier implementation of SEL in the classroom and, in turn, relates to better educator well-being. In this qualitative study, we analyzed 12 transcripts from interviews and focus groups with 16 educators from 12 elementary schools after at least six …

The grit theory emphasizes that persistence and passion for pursuing long-term goals are more important for success than innate talent alone. The purpose of this research was to assess students' grit levels and examine how they relate to academic performance. The study employed a quantitative correlational design to systematically measure numerical data, which helps identify patterns and relationships among various influencing factors. Participants included 136 students (75 English students and 61 Mathematics students). The research process involved: 1) collecting data via a questionnaire, 2) cleaning the data to remove outliers, 3) analyzing the data with SPSS, and 4) interpreting the …
