Alabama Agriculture Teachers’ Perceptions Toward Compensation And Extended Contracts, Allison Kincer
Murray State Theses and Dissertations
Abstract
The purpose of the current study was to explore Alabama agriculture teachers’ perceptions toward compensation and extended contract grants that the state offers annually. The current study was a microreplication of Still and Solomonson’s (2024) prior study and was conceptually framed by their agriculture teacher compensation model. Using a Qualtrics-based data collection instrument, the researcher used multiple points of contact as recommended by Dillman et al. (2014) and collected usable data from 95 Alabama agriculture teachers. The researcher used descriptive statistics to analyze all data collected as part of the current study. The researcher found that respondents felt they …

Murray State Theses and Dissertations
The Foundational Numeracy Transformation Cycle (FNTC) was created in part to increase the percentage of students with disabilities performing at or above grade level in middle school mathematics. Through professional development and support, the FNTC worked within regional co-ops to increase math proficiency at all grade levels by building instructional capacity in primary educators. In addition to increasing student proficiency, the FNTC also aimed to enhance educator confidence in implementing Mathematical Teaching Practice (MTP) #2. This study used quantitative analysis to determine that participation in the FNTC had no statistically significant effect on student achievement. This study also explored the …

Informal Mentoring In A Community Of Practice: Viewing Beginning Teacher Needs Through The Eyes Of Experienced Educators, Caroline Corell Murray
Theses, Dissertations and Culminating Projects
This qualitative study examined the informal mentoring of beginning elementary teachers through the lenses of experienced teachers and principals. Current research and statistics indicate that teacher shortages and difficulties retaining new teachers in the profession are ongoing concerns for U.S. schools. Induction support for beginning teachers, and particularly formal mentoring, has been found to promote teacher retention. However, little research has focused on the informal mentoring provided to beginning teachers by their more experienced counterparts, or the role school leaders play in facilitating informal mentoring. The purpose of this study therefore was twofold: first, to gain the perspective of experienced …

Determining The Impact Of Administrative Feedback On The Nctei On Alternatively Licensed Teachers' Self-Efficacy, Lauren P. Hayes
Doctor of Education Dissertations
Alternatively licensed teachers are becoming more present in today’s classrooms. Additionally, teacher evaluation processes are often completed for compliance instead of a meaningful practice. Research shows that when teachers receive high-quality, effective administrative feedback, they experience higher self-efficacy levels. The study aimed to determine the impact of administrative feedback given on the North Carolina Teacher Evaluation Instrument on alternatively licensed teachers’ self-efficacy. The study utilized a Teacher Sense of Efficacy Scale that was distributed to alternatively licensed teachers in a medium-sized North Carolina school district. Teachers were asked to participate, and six participants were randomly selected to participate in individual …

Pornography use has been shown to be highly common among young men, with numerous documented deleterious effects. Though the dangers of pornography use are well documented, few studies have attempted to determine what methods can be used to decrease use, including use among men attending Christian colleges. The present study began to address this gap by studying different groups of men who sought to decrease their use. Implications of these results are discussed.

The Beautiful Struggle: A Counter-Narrative Study Of African American Male School Leaders, Jamie Crosen Mr
Dissertations of Practice
This qualitative dissertation explores the lived experiences of African American male high school principals in urban and suburban schools across the Chicagoland area. Using critical race theory (CRT) and counter-narrative methodology, the study centers the voices of ten African American male principals to examine how race, systemic inequities, and social justice shape their leadership practices, professional identities, and navigation of racially charged educational environments. These leaders consistently confront institutionalized biases and racialized expectations that limit their professional advancement while reinforcing deficit narratives about African American leadership. Through semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis, three primary research questions guided this study: (1) …

This study was conducted, predicated on the following theories: Nel Noddings’s ethics of care, Albert Bandura’s self-efficacy theory (social cognitive theory), and positive psychology’s Martin Seligman’s PERMA (well-being). For the purposes of this study, Seligman’s PERMA (positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, accomplishment) theory encompasses both Kerry Howells’ gratitude and David Chan’s gratitude and subjective well-being. Qualitative methodology, specifically, the combination of narrative inquiry and case study guided and informed my data collection. Through semi-structured interviews and story-telling, teachers and literacy leaders shared their stories of external distressers and internal factors contributing to their professional jouissance or lack thereof.

Secondary Teachers' Perceptions Of Social Emotional Learning: A Mixed Methods Study, Ryan Taylor
West Chester University Doctoral Projects
The mental health needs of adolescents continue to rise, and there is consensus within the literature that universal promotion of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in schools is one way to improve student well-being (Vetter et al., 2024). Teachers play an important role in the success of new Social Emotional Learning (SEL) initiatives, yet their voices appear to be missing from the literature. The purpose of this mixed methods study was to dig deeper into the landscape of SEL in secondary classrooms in Pennsylvania. Participants included 63 secondary teachers who completed a survey, with nine of those teachers participating in one-on-one …
