Integrating Science In Agricultural Education: Attitudes Of Indiana Agricultural Science And Business Teachers, Mark Balschweid, Gregory W. Thompson

The purpose of this study was to determine how Indiana Agricultural Science and Business (ASB) teachers perceived the impact of integrating science on agricultural education programs. The population consisted of all Indiana ASB teachers employed during the fall 1999 semester (N = 243). The Integrating Science Survey Instrument developed by Thompson (1996) was used to identify the perceptions of the ASB instructors. From the data it was concluded that many of Indiana’s Agricultural Science and Business instructors have responded positively to the call for the integration of science into the agricultural education curriculum. The purpose of this qualitative study is to determine those factors that influenced the implementation of a technology-based project (Integrating New Technologies Into Methods of Education [INTIME]) as well as its overall impact on the professional practice of participating methods professors who used it in their classroom over a number o f semesters.

Recent research findings reveal the fact that teacher preparation programs lack the proper use of computer technology (CT). From March 13th to August 1, 1864, Private Van Buren Oldham of Company G, 9th Tennessee Volunteers, served as a Confederate infantryman in the Army of Tennessee. During those five months he was one of many soldiers that participated in skirmishes and battles in north Georgia and the defenses before Atlanta.

University Students As Near Peer English Teachers In A Weekend English Camp For High School Students In Japan, Annie Marquez

This paper presents a way to use university students as near peer role models and student leaders for a weekend English camp experience for a small group of high school students. It explores the basic design for the project, and outlines the rationale for the syllabus for preparing the near peer role models in a semester conversation class at a Japanese university. It details each of the activities used during the English camp experience, and shares reflections from the participants on the community experience.
