Mathematical Anxiety In The Turkish Context: Mathematical Experiences Of High School Students, Vahap Yorgun, Serdal Mert
Journal of Humanistic Mathematics
Although a handful of studies have investigated the prevalence of math anx- iety among Turkish school children and its relationship with several variables like attitudes toward math, gender, self-efficacy, parental style, there is as of now no study focusing on development psychological interventions to cope with math anxiety. Most of the extant studies use quantitative approaches, but in order to develop intervention programs, researchers need to know how math anxiety develops, what kinds of personal variables or factors take place in this process, and what kind of emotional and cognitive reactions hold by students about math. Twenty Years Of Community-Based College Success: Oral Histories From Practitioners, Partners, And Peer Mentors Supporting City University Of New York (Cuny) Students, Benjamin J. Carey
Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects
For the past twenty years, community-based college success programs have supported a generation of young people entering all twenty-five City University of New York (CUNY) Colleges. As the country’s largest urban university system, CUNY has historically been a major engine of economic mobility for young people in New York City. However, gaps in academic preparation and navigational support have weakened student persistence and graduation rates. Community-based organizations (CBOs) that have provided college access support to New York City public school students since the 1980s began to extend their services into college to provide targeted interventions and improve student outcomes. Grounded …

From the Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) perspective, irrational beliefs are posited as the primary catalysts for a myriad of problems, including academic burnout. This study aims to examine the theoretical model of irrational beliefs organization in academic burnout. The hypothesized model delineates the following pathways: (1) from demandingness (DEM) to academic burnout (BURN) via catastrophizing (CAT); (2) from demandingness (DEM) to academic burnout (BURN) via low frustration tolerance (LFT); and (3) from demandingness (DEM) to academic burnout (BURN) via self-depreciation (DEP). The development of instruments designed to assess student self-concept is crucial. This understanding of self-concept is based on the premise that it is a dynamic and ever-evolving construct. The concept of self-concept is initially conceived as a unidimensional structure but subsequently evolves into a multidimensional construct. The present study assesses the validity and reliability of the newly developed self-concept instrument. In Indonesia, there is a paucity of research that employs the Rasch Model to examine self-concept instruments, particularly in the context of the junior high school population. Antioch University Dissertations & Theses
This study investigated perceptions about the correlation between the college people attend and long-term happiness. Its inquiry into whether college graduates believe where they go to college affects the chance for long-term happiness is a response to the growing concerns of high school students who are anxious about acceptance into an elite undergraduate college. There is substantial literature demonstrating that graduates of elite schools earn more money and professional success than graduates of standard schools (Rumberger & Thomas, 1993). At the same time, there is evidence that individuals who attend a lower tier school while having similar characteristics to those …
