Administrators and board members at the Illinois State Board of Education recommended that schools with certain demographics hire one social worker for every 350 students. The policy has yet to be implemented despite high rates of student poverty, lagging test scores, school bullying, suspensions, and an increased number of school shootings. The Illinois State Board of Education’s social and emotional learning standards guide educators and policy makers to interact and educate each student. School social workers equipped with the necessary skill set provide services, implement district-wide social and emotional learning programs, and work with various stakeholders to monitor progress. A growing body of research affirms the positive impact of education abroad on career development, however, the value of this connection relies on students’ ability to intentionally “connect the dots” between study abroad and their bigger-picture academic and professional goals. According to the Forum on Education Abroad’s State of the Field 2017 survey, more students on average studied abroad with third-party providers than with both private and public institutions combined in the 2016-2017 academic year. However, many of the resources available and best practices for the profession are focused toward advisors who work at institutions of higher education. These resources often discuss how contact with on-site students should be established, but only vague references are made for advisors employed by a provider. The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study was to understand the experiences of university students, aged 18 to 50, in a suburban Atlanta university who have self-identified as perpetrators of cyberbullying. The three research questions that guided this study sought to determine how students perceive their cyberbullying behavior impacts their peers, how students explain their motivation to cyberbully their peers, and how their experiences led to perpetrating acts of cyberbullying. Experiences were examined that may be contributing factors for cyberbullying. This study is intended to identify the correlation between perception on tutoring services and Junior High School students’ autonomy. This study was a correlational and expose facto study. The population of this study is the entire students of Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 10 Yogyakarta amount to 506 students. Then, this study took 253 students as research sample which is determined by using proportional stratified random sampling. The data were obtained employing perception on tutoring services scale and students’ autonomy scale. Studi Komparasi Kinerja Konselor Dalam Layanan Konseling Individual Berdasarkan Self Evaluation Dan Peer Evaluation, Muya Barida, Sutarno Sutarno

The purpose of this study was to evaluate school counselor performance in organizing individual counseling services using self evaluation and peer evaluation. This study uses descriptive survey approach through descriptive comparative study. Subjects are school counselors in Special Region of Yogyakarta, especially Bantul District. Data analysis used Mann-Whitney U test. Based on result obtained by Mann-Whitney U significance value between self evaluation with peer evaluation is 0,657 (> 0,05). This means that there is no significant difference in counselor performance evaluation based on self evaluation and peer evaluation instruments.

This study aims to identify the effectiveness of cognitive defusion technique to increase students’ self confidence. This study used a pre-experimental design with one group pre-test post-test design. Subject in this study were six vocational high school student which have low self-confidence. The instrument used is self-confidence scale. To analyze the subjects’ self confidence after receiving cognitive defusion technique, we use the wilcoxon sign test. The results confirm that students' confidence level score were increase after being treat using cognitive defusion technique. It can be concluded that cognitive defusion technique are effective for improving students' self-confidence.

This research aims at examining the effectiveness of transtheoretical model to reduce compulsive internet use of Senior High School students. This research employed single subject design approach. The subject of this research is four students of X graders at St. Joseph Senior High School Malang which obtained high compulsive internet use score. This research utilized transtheoretical model counseling guidebook, compulsive internet use scale, observation and interview guidebook. The results of significant visual and score margin between pre-test and post-test indicate that transtheoretical model is effective to reduce compulsive internet use among Senior High School students.

Despite efforts to reduce the occurrence of physical aggression in traditional school environments, some students persist in engaging in physical aggression and are assigned to alternative education programs as an alternative to expulsion. However, relatively little is known about the types of services that school counselors provide to help these students. Data shows that there is a lack of progress in male graduation rates in recent decades in higher education (Diprete & Buchmann, 2013). This study examines the impact of gender role conflict and academic motivation on academic progress with first and second year Division II male student-athletes and male non-student-athletes at a Midwestern, Carnegie classified master’s college and university (larger program institution). Financial security is cited among reasons why first-generation college students pursue higher education (Bradbury & Mather, 2009; Brooks-Terry, 1988; Shelton, 2011; Walpole, 2003), but the emphasis on perceived value of a bachelor's degree fails to account for the importance of career planning (NACE, 2014; Parks-Yancy, 2012). The purpose of this qualitative, grounded theory study was to examine how career counselors use their personal experience to support first-generation college student. The study was inspired by Knox and Hill's (2003) therapist self-disclosure types and their use in the counselor/client discourse. Zero-tolerance became the rule in many school districts due to an increase in school-based violence, which served to silence student voices and led to the overrepresentation of minority students in discipline situations. Schools could adopt restorative approaches, but change cannot be sustained without fair processes at the district level. It is fair to say that their challenges although have gained some attention from academics and researchers that they are still under-studied. Gifted students are a heterogeneous group, inclusive of those of all cultures, backgrounds, interests, and achievements. Gifted students may not display any more or worse psychological, social, or developmental challenges than their peers, but they also are not immune from these challenges. Moreover, the nature of their giftedness may impact both how they experience a challenge and how a counselor might best support them. This article provides information regarding some developmental, emotional, and social challenges faced by gifted youth, as well as some suggestions for appropriate school-based counseling strategies.
