O estudo demonstra que em dezenove currículos adotados na escola secundária brasileira, no período 1838-1942, houve uma correlação negativa significativa entre a proporção de carga-horária designada que estudos de ciências e humanidades. Os resultados apoiam as observações encontradas na literatura, as quais sugerem que a importância atribuída a cada uma dessas áreas, nos currículos estudados, foi interdependente.

The study shows that in nineteen Brazilian secondary school curricula adopted during the years 1838-1942, there was a significant negative correlation between the proportion of hourly teaching loads assigned to science and humanities studies. General education can be defined in several ways. It is defined here as education that puts a person in touch with the main outlines of knowledge available to a historical period or a given culture. Theoretically, education is general if it has no one specific vocation as its end and no one specific discipline or partisan viewpoint as its specialty. In recent years many critics have written of the pervasive dehumanization and possible rehumanization of education. Plighting their troth to the autonomy and integrity of the human person, these commentators scour the educational landscape in search of policies and practices that depersonalize. They have often attacked teaching methods and the social and institutional situation in which teaching is undertaken; a few errant knights have even assailed the enterprise of teaching itself. Identification Of Observable Student Behavior In Open Education Classrooms, Michael C. Wahle

This paper identifies differences in behaviors, noted by open classroom teachers, between those students seeming to benefit most and those seeming to benefit least from an open education approach. Thirteen behaviors were identified as indicating strong differences between student groups in the ability to make a choice between work alternatives, to make productive use of time, and to demonstrate that they value their work.

Recommendations include a research on diagnosis of individual learning behaviors in relation to classroom environments.

It was the purpose of this study to identify the influences that contributed to bringing about curriculum change in selected educational agencies which employed consultants in the social sciences through NDEA Title III-B projects. The research attempted to find the ways districts planned, organized, and implemented curriculum change through the use of the NDEA consultants. It focused on the procedures, interrelationships, and interactions taking place within the structure of the projects and the agencies involved in accomplishing those projects.
