Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan numerasi dan tingkat growth mindset siswa SMP dan Madrasah Tsanawiyah di Kabupaten Purworejo. Penelitian dilakukan pada enam sekolah dengan total sampel sebanyak 171 siswa kelas VIII dari tiga SMP dan tiga Madrasah Tsanawiyah di Kabupaten Purworejo. Data dianalisis menggunakan estimasi parameter untuk melihat kemampuan numerasi dan tingkat growth mindset populasi serta uji korelasi untuk melihat hubungan kemampuan numerasi dan tingkat growth mindset siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan pendekatan problem based learning (PBL) dan problem solving (PS) ditinjau dari kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kemandirian belajar siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu dengan desain penelitian Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Group Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Gantiwarno dan sampel penelitian kelas VIIIC dan VIIID.
