Editor's Message

The prospect of bringing off a new journal is character building, I have come to believe—particularly when it is published only once a year and by a fledging organization. The Journal of the Assembly for Expanded Perspectives on Learning (JAEPL) had to be good, very good, especially the inaugural issue. That this was the first issue also meant, I hoped, that readers would tolerate mistakes. Surely, mistakes could be corrected with the next issue. But on second thought, that was a long year away.

An Overview Of Registered Family Day Care In Muscogee County, Georgia, Rhoda Boggs

This research surveyed the characteristics and components of family day care in a southeastern urban area. The subjects consisted of all family day care providers who resided within the county being studied and who were registered with the state's Department of Human Resources. The questionnaire developed by the researcher consists of 20 questions which address the caregivers' personal traits, educational qualifications, and business organization. The responses were compiled, and descriptive statistics were computed in order to provide the composite characteristics and overall range of available family day care in the county. This paper focuses on the planning, organization, and results of the Cultural Program that I presented to American, ninth grade, world Culture students. I specifically address pre-program activities, the Program itself, and post-program activities. The activities focus the students' attention, create interest, and arouse their curiosity about other cultures. Cultural information on Southeast Asia is given to provide students with background knowledge prior to the Cultural Program.
