It was the purpose of this study to determine what programs were being used in the first-class school districts of Washington State for students who had problems that had caused, or could have caused, their removal from the regular classes, and to analyze these programs in light of other programs that seem to be successful throughout the nation.

The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of students who dropped out of Spokane Continuation High School. A great deal has been written on the subject of dropouts, and as part of this study the writer reviewed and reported on the most current material available.
