This project consists of two components, a creative artefact, and written exegesis. The creative artefact is a short film script called 'Parallel Lines' which explores a conversation between a mother and her daughter after the death of the mother.

In my creative practice, cinema is the most impactful medium of generating meaning. I would go as far to state that cinema is a necessary medium in order to explore human emotions. Representation is known to impact audiences and it is for this reason that I have chosen cinema to be the mechanism to examine in depth within the work.

Submersive Sounds: An Ecoacoustic Exploration Of Aesthetic Experience, Kyle Lane

In my exegesis, I explore the convergence of ecoacoustics, environmental aesthetics and aesthetic experience within the backdrop of creative practice research. This research aims to investigate how sound can enhance aesthetic experiences of nature and engage listeners to foster stronger connections with nature. I draw on the philosophies of John Dewey, Arnold Berleant, and Maurice Merleau-Ponty to examine the practice of fieldwork, reflection and ecoacoustics and if these methods can create soundscapes that elicit an embodied, sensory engagement with nature.
