An Examination Of The Theoretical Orientation To Reading Profile (Torp): Results Of Selected Graduate Students In A Literacy Course, Guadalupe Sotelo
Graduate Theses
This survey research study was utilized to explore participants’ views and knowledge of balanced literacy programs before and after a 45-hour graduate level literacy course and to document any changes using the Theoretical Orientation to Reading Profile (TORP; Deford, 1985) questionnaire. The TORP’s main purpose is to designate the philosophical position of individuals on their preferences to teaching reading. The TORP examines orientation to phonics, skills, and whole language. Twenty-seven participants who designated themselves either as established school administrators or graduate students pursuing Master’s degrees in Educational Leadership or Reading were surveyed at the beginning and end of the course …

Presidential Leadership And Institutional Culture In Catholic Colleges And Universities: Longevity And Cultural Congruence, Tina Sherman Holland
All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Scholars disagree about the importance of a leader's longevity. The inconsistency in the findings of previous research makes it necessary to understand more fully the dynamics between presidential leadership and institutional culture. More specifically, there is a need to actually measure and describe the relationships among presidential longevity, presidential leadership style, and institutional culture. The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between the leadership styles of Catholic college and university presidents and the congruence between leadership style and culture type relative to presidential longevity. This study also identifies dominant culture types and leadership styles that accompany congruence. …
Self-Regulated Learning Of Underprepared Students In Online Courses, Leslie A. Stultz
Self-Regulated Learning Of Underprepared Students In Online Courses, Leslie A. Stultz
All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The growing number of students enrolling at community colleges, the continuing number of underprepared students requiring remedial education, and the increasing number of students interested in the flexibility of online courses were the reasons for this study, which examined not only those demographic variables that research often suggests are related to success, but also the learner characteristic of self-regulation. Participants included 82 first-time freshman enrolled in an online study skills course at a two-year community college. The students' total level of self-regulation and its components of executive processing, cognitive processing, motivation, and environmental control were measured using The Self-Regulated Learning …
