Flipping The Classroom To Improve Knowledge Retention Among Practical Nursing Students, Paige Cooper
SACAD: Scholarly Activities
Typical nursing lectures consist of a power point, and a lecturer discussion of a particular subject, such as a disorders, treatments, or pharmacology (HEW & LO, 2018). Flipping the classroom is a lecture style tailored to a variety of student learning styles, and utilizes prerecorded lectures, and participation in projects or discussions during class time. There are four main learning styles: visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and reading/writing. Each style comes with their own strategies, but all have similar advantages, including the opportunity to learn in the best way for individual students. Flipping the classroom avoids the typical lecture, and implements activities …

SACAD: Scholarly Activities
“Failure to rescue (FTR) is failure or delay in recognizing and responding to a hospitalized patient experiencing complications from a disease process or medical intervention” (Hall et al., 2020, Background section). It is viewed in three parts: failure to recognize, failure to report, and failure to treat. The first two of these are dependent on nursing.
The use of simulation training can increase confidence in recognizing a change in patient condition. This is a first step in preventing Failure To Rescue deaths, as well as other adverse outcomes.
The use of an effective communication tool like I-PASS can increase confidence …

SACAD: Scholarly Activities
Juvenile interrogations are interviews conducted by law
enforcement officers when a youth is suspected of being involved in
a crime. Parents do not have to be notified if authorities are
questioning their children. They also do not need to be notified if
they are witnesses or suspects to a crime. Often, this delays parents'
time in speaking on behalf of their child. Additionally, studies show
many youths are willing to give up their right to remain silent due to
a lack of awareness of the seriousness of the situation. Educating
youth and their parents with programs directed towards youth rights …
