The Relationship Between Environmental Awareness And Academic Achievement In Elementary School Children, Earl T. Leindecker

One hundred and seventy two sixth grade public school students were surveyed to investigate the possibility of a relationship between the children's perception of the cleanliness of the academic environment and the students' level of academic achievement. Utilizing a Pearson product-moment coefficient, student responses on a researcher-prepared Likert-type scale were correlated with the Normal Curve Equivalency Score for the reading portion of the Stanford Achievement Test. Analysis of the statistical data revealed a negative .139 correlation. The positive directional hypotheses cannot be accepted. However, the null hypothesis must be retained because of the negative .139 correlation at the .05 level …

This study was done to supply information for librarians about special periodicals of the Northwest States which could be used in teaching secondary social studies. Complete bibliographic information and descriptive annotations were included for each periodical. Suggested usage of these periodicals for a unit in Washington State history was included as an example.

It is the purpose of this study to determine the taxonomy, distribution, and ecology of four species of the genus Microtus and one species of the genus Lagurus found in Kittitas County. The species of Microtus are: Microtus montanus, Montane vole; Microtus oregoni, Creeping Vole; Microtus longicaudus, Long-Tailed Vole and Microtus richardsoni, Water Vole. The species of Lagurus is Lagurus curtatus, Sagebrush Vole.
