The purpose of this quantitative study was to investigate the relationship between magnet school designation and student achievement in Tennessee secondary public schools. Three years (2021-2023) of student achievement data from the Tennessee Department of Education was used to analyze student performance in 24 magnet and 287 traditional non-magnet schools. Schools were included in the study if they operated continuously throughout the study period and were categorized as either a public magnet school or a traditional non-magnet school. Excluded from the study were virtual, charter, alternative schools, and early colleges.

This study explores the experiences of Latino first-generation college students (FGCS) in California’s Inland Empire, focusing on family achievement guilt—the emotional tension felt when academic success surpasses that of family members. Rooted in familismo and cultural expectations, this phenomenon can lead to self-doubt, stress, and academic struggles, particularly for Latino males in community colleges. This study explored the enrollment departure effects of First-Generation College Students (FGCS) at the community college level. Community colleges serve a key role in providing higher education access to nontraditional students, including FGCS. The study employed a three-pronged quantitative research approach to understand the enrollment departure phenomenon better. The study was guided by the Student/Institution Engagement Model to elucidate the impacts of precollege, institutional, and environmental factors on student persistence. Two binary logistic regressions and chi-square tests for independence were conducted on archival college data.

This study aimed to explore the lived experiences of female leaders in postsecondary education, focusing on how intersecting identities influence their leadership and decision-making processes. Using a hermeneutic phenomenological approach and the theoretical framework of intersectionality, the research explored the relationships between gender, leadership, career decision-making, and other social identities. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and demographic surveys with 11 female leaders. This study explored how embedded cultural competency training influences undergraduate pre-health students’ perceptions of personal and professional growth. Using a qualitative descriptive design, the research incorporated intercultural assessments, the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), and the Global Competence Certificate (GCC), along with qualitative reflections from students enrolled in three versions of a cultural competence course: a year-long course, a semester-long course, and a short-term study abroad immersion six-week course. Research shows that nearly one-third of novice teachers leave the profession before their third year, and almost half leave by their fifth year, with turnover rates remaining steady. Teacher job satisfaction and dissatisfaction are influenced by various factors, with administrative support playing a key role. This exploratory qualitative study examined how principals' leadership behaviors affect teacher retention. Through surveys and interviews with principals and teacher representatives from nine schools, the study found that positive principal leadership significantly influences teachers' decisions to stay in their schools.
