Institutional Aid And Net Tuition Revenue: Understanding The Relationship Across Private Institutions Of Different Carnegie Classifications, Warren P. Lord

Private nonprofit four-year institutions have been increasing the amount of institutional aid provided to students, in the pursuit of enrollment and revenue management objectives and goals. Most of this aid is being funded using the institution’s operating funds. This study investigated the relationship between unfunded institutional aid and net tuition revenue, controlling for institutional characteristics and financial factors. The study was based on panel data analysis using Delta Cost Project data from 2006 to 2015. The findings of this study show that the relationship between unfunded institutional aid and net tuition revenue varies by Carnegie classification. Private nonprofit Bachelor’s institutions …

This study explored educational leaders’ perspectives on childhood obesity and its effect on absenteeism and school performance and possible measures taken in the future to combat this. This study demonstrated the importance of leaders’ perspectives on childhood obesity and absenteeism in elementary classrooms, the nutrition education that is given to students and their families, and possible measures that should be taken in the future to combat childhood obesity in the nation’s elementary schools.

Research Focus. This qualitative study explored the expectations and the experiences of recently ordained Roman Catholic priests as leaders in their parish communities. Leadership preparation of Roman Catholic priests is an important issue. Roman Catholic priests, by following the example of Jesus Christ, and as described in Apostolic Letters, Decrees and Apostolic Exhortations from the Vatican, would appear to be expected to be the personification of a good leader. Thus, the question is posed as to what newly ordained priests thought the leadership expectations would be, and what their experience has been.

The purpose of this study was to determine factors associated with the success of conservatorships as a method for school district improvement by analyzing school accountability ratings, results from an adaptive leadership instrument, and action plans of conservators. A sequential exploratory design was used to examine the action plans implemented by conservators to increase academic achievement in five failing school districts. The quantitative data from this study consisted of accountability ratings from districts under the control of a conservator within the 2012 – 2016 time period and data from the adaptive leadership questionnaire. The qualative data from this study was gained through a survey administered to K-12 teachers from schools in the state of Mississippi that allow corporal punishment and schools that do not allow corporal punishment. According tothe U.S.Census Bureau (2014), the popuation of overage students is at almost 16%. According to Gerwetz (2005), this population of students have a high probability o f dropping out of school. Because of this, job prospects and career opportunities can be bleak for these students; therefore, school districts should review current practices and policy to find ways to better support overage middle school students. This study interviewed 17 middle school educators to examine the contributing factors along with best practices to address this educational dilemma. This study utilized semi-structured interviews of middle school teachers in an urban district.

This study examined the underrepresentation of women in leadership roles, specifically on the underrepresentation of Latina women holding leadership administrative positions in education. Using social capital as the theoretical framework, this study explored the role of mentoring relationships in the career advancement and promotions of Latina women. A narrative research design was selected to collect participants’ stories about their career advancement into school leadership positions.
