Teacher Perceptions Of Middle School Discipline Practices And Their Impact On Teacher Efficacy Of Classroom Management, John Christopher Williams

The purpose of this quantitative study was to investigate the relationship between teacher perception of principal leadership, teacher perception of discipline policy, teacher perception of input to discipline policy, teacher perception of administrator support with student discipline, and teacher efficacy of classroom management. This study analyzed data from three middle schools in a central West Georgia school district. The overall model was not significant at predicting teacher efficacy of classroom management. Developing and Implementing a Doctor of Andragogy Program andragogically provides an opportunity to 'think outside the box.' It requires congruency between talking and action, and active involvement of the learners. With many successes in the first two years, a concern emerged over the lack of interest and attendance in the initiative. Using andragogy to investigate the concern, opportunities emerged for improvement.

Asian International Students' College Experiences At Universities In The United States: Relationship Between Perceived Quality Of Personal Contact And Self-Reported Gains In Learning, Krishna K. Bista

This study examined associations between Asian international students' perceived quality of contact with faculty, administrative personnel and other students, and self-reported gains in areas identified in College Students Experience Questionnaire. The sample included 705 Asian students from 25 research universities across the United States. Of 705 Asian international students, 390 were from East Asia, 219 from South and Central Asia, and 96 from Southeast Asia. Results indicated that Asian international students' relationships with peers were positively associated with all five domains of gains of learning (i.e., personal development, science and technology, general education, vocational preparation, and intellectual skills). The main objective of this research project, spearheaded by Dr. Donald Holsinger, was to calculate the Gini Index of Education for Cambodia. Simply put, the Gini Index is a measurement of equality; the higher the quantitative score, the greater the inequality and vice versa. The Gini Index, or coefficient, of education is a measure of equality in educational attainment, or in other words a measure of the distribution of education. High educational inequality is undesirable in many aspects; among other things, high educational inequality in a country hinders its economic development.

The level of motivation in students of collegiate studies varies drastically and affects both campus life and the ultimate success of any institute of higher education. Academic motivation is defined as the desire one has to succeed in academic pursuits. This project attempts to conclude whether or not specific life experiences can be consistently linked to large changes in college students’ motivation. If so, these life experiences will be categorized and placed on a continuum measuring their frequency and severity.

These returns to investment for women are imperative to society and are vital in improving developing countries such as Uganda, Africa.

In its school rezoning and closure process from May 6 - June 3, 2013, the Richmond School Board voted to close 3 schools and change 14 elementary school zones despite opposition that overwhelmingly outweighed support at both public hearings. Though there were a wide range of concerns cited, including the rushed timeline, lack of transparency and absence of clear criteria for closing and rezoning these schools, many stakeholders expressed particular disapproval related to the potential increase in racial isolation that would result from the plan, formally known as Option C.

As drugs and other contraband made their way into schools starting in the 1960s, education leaders turned to drug-sniffing dogs, which typically work in conjunction with law enforcement officials, to detect the presence of contraband in learning environments. In fact, sniff dogs—or their noses—are a highly effective, reliable, and unobtrusive means of discovering potentially dangerous contraband, such as drugs, alcohol, and even gunpowder from firearms. Accordingly, the vast majority of courts have upheld the use of sniff dogs in schools when challenged under the Fourth Amendment’s prohibition against unreasonable searches and seizures.

These then lead to two overall goals of 1) increasing the quality and years of healthy life and 2) eliminating health disparities. College student retention has been described as a puzzle because retention rates have stagnated, and in some cases declined, despite over seventy years of research into the problem. The International Bill of Rights declares education to be a human right (UN, 1948) which, if denied, limits the opportunities for personal development and growth. At the World Education Forum in 2000 held in Dakar, Senegal by UNESCO, the international community agreed to the Dakar Framework for Action. This agreement states a timeframe within which to achieve certain educational goals. Among these were the goals of achieving gender parity in education by 2005 and gender equality by 2015 (UNESCO, 2003).
