Many universities and K-12 public school systems express a significant, formal commitment to the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Relative to the emphasis on DEI in America’s educational institutions, however, there has been little research describing DEI trends and evaluating the efficacy of DEI bureaucracies. This three-chapter dissertation examines DEI trends that have been the subject of much discussion—but rarely studied empirically.

The purpose of this study was to assess the initiatives and incentives preferred by certified teachers employed by a Middle Georgia school district with the goal of formulating a plan to retain teachers. This quantitative study looked at factors such as race, gender, age, and grade level of teachers and the statistical significance to initiatives and incentives and the effect on teacher retention. The data from the study was obtained using a survey administered to teachers in the district with various levels of experience.

This study explored the phenomenon of culturally responsive pedagogy to address the problem of limited data to inform best practices in facilitating high teacher self-efficacy with culturally responsive teaching practices. Using a qualitative exploratory case study design with an initial quantitative component, the perceptions of content-area middle school general education teachers regarding culturally responsive pedagogy in their classroom teaching practices were assessed and considered in respect to their reported perceptions of self-efficacy with culturally responsive teaching. This study conducted a comprehensive review of the current secondary literature on the use of e-portfolios in education in order to narrow down the considerable volume of research, develop new knowledge, and further offer implications in Chinese teaching. This study synthesized the secondary articles from 2011 to 2021 and analyzed the retrieved data using the SWOT framework. A keyword search for e-portfolio and reviews generated 636 review articles. With technological advancement and the COVID pandemic, online speaking assessment is increasingly used in language teaching. Two modes are developed: online synchronous testing (direct human-to-human interview) and online asynchronous testing (semi-direct human-to-machine interview). Ample literature has explored how each of the two online modes differs from traditional face-to-face speaking assessments. However, few studies have investigated the differences between the two modes, especially in terms of examinees’ affective preferences. The purpose of this quantitative, causal comparative study was to measure differences in the level of cognitive conflict among middle school science students utilizing independent t-tests. This study supports increasing knowledge for middle school science educators and potentially contributes to improved curriculum design and delivery. Resident physician participation in scholarly activity is associated with significant benefits ranging from trainees’ personal development to improved quality of patient care. Residency programs have taken varied approaches to improve resident engagement in scholarship, though interventions have demonstrated mixed results regarding objective measures of scholarly productivity. Purpose: The purpose of this mixed methods Delphi study was to identify the remote learning instructional strategies used by expert Southern California parent educators for implementing the anticipatory set, modeling, checking for understanding, and guided practice elements of Madeline Cheek Hunter’s Instructional Theory Into Practice (ITIP) framework. The study sought to identify how expert Southern California parent educators rated the effectiveness of the remote learning instructional strategies in the aforementioned elements of Hunter’s ITIP framework. This study aims to explore the perceptions and experiences of Teacher-Educators (TEs) who participated in virtual research-workshop-series as professional development programs. Six TEs, three from natural science and three from social science, participated in a nine-month virtual research workshop series organized by the faculty. In the frame of a case study, the data were gathered from in-depth interviews and a set of questions. The findings revealed that TEs had sufficient research knowledge as they were able to identify good quality of research, read relevant reading research, and signified the importance of research as part of their professional identity. The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), the governing body for accrediting social work education programs, has required social work programs to demonstrate a commitment to DEI in their implicit curriculum. Therefore, the School of Social Work is interested in understanding student perspectives and experiences of DEI efforts particularly within the implicit curriculum.

This project will involve revising CELCIS assessment plan/process to make it more meaningful, measurable and manageable and to follow the guidelines of the Commission on English Program Accreditation (CEA), which recommended such revision in response to our 5-year interim report. The steps will include: revising learning outcomes for four kinds of courses at four different levels: elementary, intermediate, pre-advanced and advanced to make them more specific and measurable; aligning evaluation instruments with the learning outcomes; updating our model syllabi to make them reflect the correspondence between the learning outcomes and evaluation instruments, and redesigning progress reports given to students.

The purpose of this qualitative case study was to assess the fidelity of implementation of the school readiness/kindergarten preparedness program and the training being used, called the Teaching Strategies GOLD®, through the perceptions of preschool teachers from a Head Start program in southeastern Florida. This study addressed the crisis with the school readiness outcomes in the state of Florida. Specifically, children are entering school underprepared for kindergarten. The Florida Kindergarten Readiness Screener data revealed failing test scores at the selected study site during the 2017–2018, 2018–2019, 2019–2020, 2020–2021, and 2021– 2022 school years. Objectives: The main objective of this study was to explore students’ experiences of the emergency virtual remote teaching, which was implemented as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Method: 439 students enrolled at a community college in Canada responded to a survey that had Likert-scale and open-ended questions. Anderson’s model for online learning was used as an analytic lens to gain insight on student experiences. Descriptive statistics were used to make meaning of the data. This study explored faculty members' perspectives on online teaching in higher education and described, analyzed, and interpreted faculty members challenges and experiences of teaching online courses. Participants were twelve (12) faculty members who have taught online courses or currently teach online courses. Data was collected from 60-minutes semi-structured interview sessions, 78 open-ended questions, three research driving questions, background questionnaire, and personal artifacts from faculty members.
