This project examined preventative and proactive behavior interventions and strategies that maximized learning and minimized inappropriate behavior. The review of current research found that schools were more successful in reducing or eliminating violent behavior when a positive school wide behavior program was collaboratively developed, implemented, and frequently monitored over time. Included is a K- 5 Behavior Intervention Guide that focused on preintervention support for students using various forms of positive recognition, written expectations, and proactive behavior interventions that reinforce appropriate behavior. The goal of this project is to teach adult Hispanic low-level readers to utilize the Worksource of Kittitas County and to improve their reading in their language of origin. Research shows that the transfer of knowledge from the primary language to a new second language is not possible without mastery in the primary language first.

This project shows the development of an interconnected foundational art curriculum which combines the concepts of organization, studentinvolved classroom assessment, Discipline-Based Art Education, and the elements and principles of design. This project was developed to provide art teachers with a curriculum that would give beginning art students foundational knowledge in art. This project focuses on teaching students a basic foundation for creating and understanding art while incorporating the four disciplines of DBAE. With a statewide pilot of the 5th grade science Washington Assessment of Student Leaming (WASL) in the spring of 2003, all elementary schools were tiying to prepare their students to meet the standards. At this time, the only resources schools had for preparation was a glimpse of the first criterion-referenced assessment, the Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALRs), Grade level Expectations (GLEs) and a "release booklet" of sample items distributed to 5th grade science teachers. This project provides school districts with background and resources to implement an alternative school program that involves parent partnership at a high level. Though resembling homeschooling, families involved in these programs in Washington State are emolled as public school students in the sponsoring district. Some homeschoolers tend to view these programs with a wary eye, while participants have found what they consider to be a godsend that enables them to educate their children the way they want with resources made available by the local school district. The relationship of the Washington State Learning Assessment, (WASL) math scores between two 4th-grade classes in the greater Wenatchee area was compared. Class A listened to classical music before taking the test and Class B did not listen to music before taking the test. Any significant differences between their scores were evaluated . The average of each class's test scores was compared without any student's name listed. This study was a normal educational assessment being performed in a normal school setting and parental permission was not required for such activities. With a focus on professional growth and accountability, The Frameworks for Teaching by Charlotte Danielson (1996) were created. The literature showed that the Frameworks for Teaching provided a clear explanation of teacher performance and supplied accountability to parents and legislators when used for summative evaluation.
